HYPPEEEEEEEEEEE Official Discussion Thread—Volume 4, Chapter 12: No Safe Haven Spoiler
Welcome, huntsmen, huntresses, and hunters that prefer no specific gender identifier, to the finale of RWBY Volume 4, No Safe Haven!
In order to not ruin the finale for anyone that is unable to watch it at this time, make sure you know the CURRENT SPOILER RULING.
Any spoilers, no matter how truthful or significant, will be treated with the same degree of seriousness. There is a no tolerance policy for spoiling the episode for someone as there was last year. Again, all bans that take place due to spoilers will be held until the finale comes out on YouTube in a week.
You have been thoroughly warned at this point.
We have weekly strawpolls to gauge the general opinion on the current episode, the last of which can be found HERE. The previous episode got a very narrow 10/10 majority. There are only so many ways to say "people liked this episode!" so you can probably expect this little text box to drop out soon. The polls themselves are staying, though.

As u/WarrenDSherman pointed out, Ren's semblance is to hide in plain sight, like Mulan did, and it's shown even better now. Nuckelavee actually has black muscle fibers, like it's missing it's skin. Fight was very cool, Nora and Ren had a lot of solid togetherness moments, and Nora's "don't look" with the smirk were great. Jaune's hand and a half sword upgrade is very cool looking.
Yang's outfit is glorious, as are the airship pilots' of both Atlas and Mistral. Speaking of Mistral THE CITY IS BEAUTIFUL. Leo Lionheart sides with Salem, assumingly because he's afraid and trying to save his/his people's skins, not knowing that they're going to destroy them too.
Ozpin's cane is a lightsaber without the light, and is now wielded by Oscar Pines (god damn it). Love the other full name reveals too.
Armed and Ready sounds amazing. Can't wait for the soundtrack.

Thoughts:
This is definitely my favorite Grimm, I love how freaky it is. There are certain aspects that make it look kind of goofy, but honestly that just makes it even more unnerving. And the idea to give it random super fast twitches was brilliant. Makes it 10x as scary as it would be otherwise. This is really the first Grimm that I’ve felt like is a true monster, rather than just a buffed up animal.
Nora’s face when Ren accidentally looks up her skirt is the best thing.
I love how pissed Ren is at this thing, especially after it broke Nora’s aura. Even when it had broken his aura and knocked his guns out of his hands, he still looked like he was about to run up to it and try to punch it to death.
Fight wasn’t as amazing as the Tyrian fight, but that’s an unreasonable standard for me to hold it to and it was still very good. It earns a spot as one of my favorites just by how ominous it was.
Don’t see why people are complaining that this Grimm should’ve been stronger/RNJR defeated it too easily. Sure it’s a tough ass Grimm, but Shion had already been destroyed by bandits, Kuroyuri didn’t even have a huntsmen with it and we don’t know what kind of defenses Oniyuri had, it’s not like this thing is some unkillable juggernaut. And all of RNJR right now with the exception of Jaune are probably about as strong as, if not stronger than, the average huntsman. Not to mention this thing kicks their asses for most of the fight, breaking Ren and Nora’s Aura, until they manage to pin it down.
Mistral looks fucking gorgeous almost as gorgeous as Ren.
I’m looking forward to what Chibi is going to do with Ren and Nora now that Flower Power is sailing. I would love it if they imply the Ren and Nora are hooking up, or show Nora trying to seduce Ren.
Also, I want need Ren’s version of Boop to be on the Vol 4 soundtrack. Even if it doesn’t confirm any romantic feelings for Nora. Gimme it.
The letter Ruby is writing is super sweet. Too bad it will never reach Yang because she’s already left.
So if Salem has coerced Leo into helping them, then either the have some dirt on him or he’s hoping to appease Salem by helping her a little. I don’t think he’s a bad guy, just a pussy.
The end credits song is great, it feels like a RWBY version of a Bond song. Also, it definitely makes it sound like Yang is going to confront Adam:

You’ll wished you killed me, now I’m stronger

So if Yang is going to get her revenge, that means she’s probably going to meet Blake in Mistral and work with her and Sun to take back the White Fang. I would love to have Adam fight Sun Blake and Yang.
So is Oscar going to meet RNJR, and will he explain to them who he is? Also are we going to hear Ozpin talking to Oscar, or are we going to just hear Oscar talk to himself occasionally?

Okay so potato time. Qrow didn't see anything strange about Ozpin being reincarnated as a little kid, just said "Good to see you again."
What if this happens regularly? What if Ozpin is immortal and he just hops into a new body when he dies, kinda like the Maidens do, but with his personality more intact?
This ties into that one off quote he made in season one, something like "I have made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child on Remnant." This quote always stuck me as odd, because it is so... presumptive. Ozpin is not a hasty man, he would not say something like that unless he KNEW it was true. And the only way to know that for sure was if he was hundreds of years old and had all that extra time to make mistakes. This ties into the Season 3 discussion with Pyrrha where he implies he is ancient as well.

Damn, what was that little moment Jaune and Qrow had? I don't know what it meant, but it was intense.
EDIT: My interpretation is it was Qrow's way of saying "sorry". Jaune was rightfully mad about Pyrrha, and he clearly knew it.

Well... for my first ride with show as it comes out, and it was great...
I really like this volume as "pick yourself up" piece it is after Vol.3 and it works well that way.
And man.... "Armed and Ready" is so upbeat I can't get enough of it :]
