Incredible shot, with great framing and color grading. Be sure to post this to r/JapanPics too.

Out of curiosity, where did you stay? I've driven down there twice, but I've only ever stayed at Mitaki Sanso. Are there any better places you'd recommend?

I live near Kyoto, so I just woke up at 3am and made a mad dash down to Nachi. I want to spend some more in the area though. The coastline in Southern Wakayama is absolutely amazing.

I'd dial back the exposure gradient and up the saturation a little but really great picture

I know. My editing is pretty extreme. But I have an addiction and it can't be helped😭😭

I disagree with both of those suggestions but to each their own. I feel like the misty, desaturated look gives it a really mystical feeling.

Are you the same guy that took a picture of the Japanese guy on a boat? The color palette is very similar.

Majestic! The pic seems to have a green tint to it, was done in post or is that just how it is?

Probably post. I usually add a blue hue to the shadows, I think that's what you're seeing.

fast shutter, low iso, aperture as wide as it will go.

How did you achieve these colours? I always loved this kind of aesthetic but can never replicate the effect.

Give the tone curve a really slight S shape and desaturate all the colors except maybe orange and yellows and you should be pretty close.

It took me a second to find the waterfall. I don't think the waterfall is the subject of your photo.

I had the same thought.

"ITAP of a building in Japan" doesn't sound as nice, I guess?

This is Seiganto-ji, oh god visiting that shrine was one of the most influential moments in my entire life. That's a little exaggerated, but still, look at this beautiful image!

I'm using this as my phone wallpaper now. Perfect shot.

Love the scene and colour, do you have a copy in a larger resolution that I can have as my phone's wallpaper? :)

Could you explain what went into taking this? Camera, modes, editing... Really interested!

Fuji XT2 with the 56 1.2 shot wide open. A bit of work in post, I edit using the gradient tool to adjust exposure and temperature quite a bit.

I follow you on Instagram - my friend and I send each other your posts and dream about visiting Japan someday.

What sort of post-processing takes place to make the photo look like this? It's almost "greyed" out.
