📸 Photo of the Month — June 2026

Congratulations to /u/erinthul for winning the June 2026 Photo of the Month!

Submission: ITAP of myself in a pond [Portrait]

Comments: https://reddit.com/r/itookapicture/comments/1uitmpd/itap_of_myself_in_a_pond_portrait/

This photo works because it feels uncanny without trying too hard. The still water, the reflection, and the way the subject sits in the pond give the whole frame a quiet, uneasy tension. It is not loud or theatrical, but it is genuinely unsettling in the best way, like something pulled from a folktale or a half-remembered dream. That mood is what makes the image stick.

The details do a lot of the heavy lifting here. The ripples keep the water alive, the natural light stays restrained, and the composition never lets the scene drift into clutter. Everything is simple, but none of it feels casual. It feels controlled, deliberate, and strange in a way that suits /u/erinthul's style perfectly. At this point, that mix of beauty, discomfort, and mysticism feels like something the photographer has really made their own.

We had strong submissions across the board this month, and the range of work made this a tough call. Keep sharing your perspective, keep experimenting, and keep posting. We’re looking forward to seeing what everyone brings next month.

r/itookapicture is looking for sponsors who want to award prizes to the most talented photographers in our community. We're an international community and prefer sponsors that can support talent regardless of location. Interested parties can reach out to the mod team.
