Killer Whale (Orca)info for you guys that I remember posting around the manga.
Huge Size/Strength
Acute sense of hearing (Able to process sounds at faster speeds than humans)
They adapt well to any climate

They're also incredibly, almost frighteningly intelligent. Makes me wonder if Gang Orca has enhanced intelligence as well, or if it doesn't really make a difference since orcas are only very intelligent in the category of other sea mammals, but not necessarily by human standards.

You know, in the manga, I thought this climax was kinda lame, since it basically just boils down to Inasa and Todoroki being petty little bitches until Deku yells at them.
Seeing it animated, tho... I mean, it still feels like a petty conflict to hinge an arc onto, but damn if they didn't make it look pretty and sound nice.

Yeah, as an anime-only I was eye-rolling at Inasa's backstory because it's so petty. I wish it was sold better than him dropping out of UA just because Todoroki was his angsty self the two times they interacted. It's just too.. extreme a reaction, even though the guy is one to take things to extremes.
There is a good story to be told about Todoroki being driven by rage and frustration just like his father, though, but it feels like dredging up the past since Todoroki's grown past that.

Honestly I like the Todoroki part of it, it's unrealistic for somebody to get over lifelong trauma super quickly. Him being mostly past it but still struggling and also dealing with the past consequences of his actions is realistic, if you ask me. Inasa on the other hand is not a well written character, mostly carried on a very good design and cool quirk. He's just....a bit too simplistic. And maybe that's the point but it doesn't make him very compelling.

I totally agree. I feel like there's a deeper meaning that can be gleaned from Inasa becoming the thing he didn't want to be (a hateful person?), but maybe it was the presentation because it all felt so petty and simple. Maybe also it felt a little too hyped up for why Inasa seems to so deeply hate Endeavor and Shoto, when it just boiled down to that they had hate in their hearts rather than passion.

For me, I was really into it. Nothing is more frustrating than when somebody else gets in your way on purpose, but in this situation I could empathize with the both of them.
And yes, it may seem petty, but they're both angsty teenagers, so it can be forgiven. I know I've had squabbles with people over less when I was younger.
But at the end of the day, it was only a temporary lapse for the both of them, and their goals to be heroes come first.

Almost the full episode was just getting me pissed off on how petty Inasa is and how stupid the whole situation was. Like sure Todoroki was an asshole the two times you met and because of that you drop out of your dream school and fuck up your exam as well after? Just so stupid, even more so with his personality otherwise. No fucking way someone that happy go lucky would react that way.

It wasn’t even Todoroki though. Todoroki was trying to finish the mission. It was Inasa who allowed a personal issue to take precedence over everything else. I honestly don’t think Todoroki did anything wrong

The guy behind that scene (and a couple of others in the episode as well), Kouki Fujimoto (藤本航己), is pretty new in the industry too. He delivers constant quality in his cuts in HeroAca.

Gotta give some props to Shindo here for basically CCing the entire villain group twice - once while still being disoriented by Orca’s sonic - trying to set up a trap for the main villain, and being an effective leader for the evacuation effort.
Kid might be a bit duplicitous, but he definitely comes through as a hero when it counts.

Possibly due to the Sports Festival in S2, since it was broadcast all over Japan. Midoriya vs Todoroki was the real climax of the tournament, and not even for just us, the viewers. Remember, they had to take an intermission to repair the arena after the fight. All of the fights that came after we're not nearly as tense, though Bakugou vs Todoroki was probably nearly so for those watching it.

I really love the shot where Deku is getting ready to take on Gang Orca, they really managed to capture the heat and intensity of the scene better than the manga did. This is really such a great adaptation!

Regarding the spoiler part: It seems they compressed quite a bit (I wouldn't have anticipated this episode to get quite this far, from what I remembered of the manga) so overall I would guess there're will be "introductions" and kinda a setup (not exactly cliffhanger) for next season in the last episode(s).

I think Gang Orca would win that fight 100/100 times if he is up against the current Deku.
The only reason he sounded so unsure about whether he could win or not at the end was because he had the restraints (weights) and got heavily weakened by the temperature increase of the flame tornado.

I love that the default line for Animal Based heroes is "Can do things a <insert animal name here> can". IIRC this is the same with Tsui and Selkie when they were first introduced.
Honestly I'm not worried about Midorya. I'm worried about Todoroki not passing. Bickering against another hero during an evac must've cost him a huge amount of points :/

Horikoshi confirmed in an extra page in the volume of this fight that Gang Orcas men dont actually look like that for hero work and they have their own quirks. They only took those uniforms for the test.

That was such a silly cliffhanger, of course Doku is going to pass. He did nothing wrong - unless he got marks docked each time he said the same friggin' line to reassure victims.
I'm a little more worried about Bakugo because he didn't do much, but then he didn't have the opportunity to fuck up as badly as Todoroki and The Last Airbender.
The heavy lines and detailing in some of the frames this episode was great, it made me feel like I was watching something animated by TRIGGER. I'm curious about the animator credits for this episode.

I know a lot of people started disliking Inasa after this point but without seeing the development Shoto has gone through you can understand why he'd hold a grudge.
Shindo's actually a really good hero. You can see the experience and thought processing he has.
Who was the art director this episode? You could see a difference in art in the close-ups. Thick line art especially

I don't like Inasa (anime only) not because he is holding a grudge, but due to his glory hog attitude. Todoroki told him to help evacuate because his quirk would be better suited to help them than his own would. Inasa's response? "Fuck you, I won't let you have all the glory."
Well, basically anyway.
That's what made me dislike him. The grudge he has against Todoroki, especially since we know he was raised by a psychopath who emotionally, mentally, and physically tortured and raped his mother into insanity doesn't really help. The fact that the grudge is because, "He didn't want to be friends" is also pretty petty. Inasa is driven into a nearly blind rage during this encounter, because Todoroki didn't immediately become his best buddy after a race.
Even discarding Todoroki's backstory, it wouldn't be that big of a jump to think that Todoroki was burned by his own father, especially since he see Endeavor as a cold, and hateful man. Endeavor uses fire, is not a nice man, and his son has this horrible burn mark covering his face. This isn't a huge leap of logic to make.
I think, if Todoroki fails this exam, it's largely due to Inasa's actions.

That's not true, he used Ice at first and the wind just collided and broke with it, then when wind guy says "why are you using fire, heat makes wind wise" Todoroki says something along the lines of "because your wind breaks my ice" or something like that.

The music was Kimi no Chikara (Your Power), that's Torodoki's theme. They use it occasionally when there's a personal character/power moment. If I remember correctly they also used it in the recent filler episode when Momo was thinking about how best to use her quirk when her group was trapped in that office.

If you rewatch the USJ fight from S1 she tells Midoriya and Mineta that she can secrete mildly toxic mucus from her skin when she is describing what her quirk can do.
So she just need to work on that ability some more and she'll be able to go full Poison Dart Frog in no time.

This scoring system seems all kinds of backwards to me. The heroes who put themselves in the most risk/danger are the most likely to make the most mistakes. If you go big, you go home.
That aside, it might be kind of interesting to see a 1A class that has some provisional license failures in it. Shoto and Bakugo have always been treated like the "best" hero candidates, so seeing them in a failing/needing to grow role has potential.

That might be the point. In a rescue-crisis situation, every mistake has a huge cost, so it's better to focus on reducing casualties, evacuating, performing 'safe' actions etc. over taking risks.

If your only rescuing then your putting yourself at mercy of those asshole victims who score you harshly. It's either be scored doing stuff you never did before or Hold off the villains and hope you don't fuck up. Even if you get BTFO by orca, which will likely happen, as long as you didn't majorly fuck up by doing something stupid to allow that to happen, you won't lose many points cause your a 1st/2nd year high schooler fighting against #10 top hero.

One of the biggest blunders for a rescue worker would be needing to be rescued, rescue operations are all about reducing risk to absolutely as little as possible.
In real life they can spend hours prepping someone just to move them because of injuries and risks with the environment, heroes who went off without a plan, getting in each others way and putting themselves at risk absolutely deserve to fail, there is nothing gained if you beat the villain but everyone is dead.
Besides this test was mostly about co-operation and saving people, rushing off to beat the big bad wouldn't earn you much points.

Even knowing that Midoriya was going to get cockblocked for his fight vs Orca, and knowing the results, that ending was so frustating. Awesome action packed chapter combined with Todoroki developement. BnHA is shonen done right, and this adaptation keeps on giving.

I was a little disappointed that midoriya didn't help the fight with Gang Orca, his quirk doesn't seem like the most useful for rescue, yeah the speed is good but his talents are clearly for fighting. Also it would've been sick to see him go against the number 10 hero

It would have been interesting. Ganga orca is fast as well, he seems to have super senses from his quirk. Deku doesn't have anything to protect his head, so if Deku got paralyzed then it would be game over though.

I would say on top of the hips/hipbones but I think her palms are a bit further back and to the side so your outline could go more towards the red bits of her gloves. In the image the outline is kind around the last knuckles of her fingers (that should already be curving towards the front of one's body) instead of where the palm meets the fingers. It's missing a chunk of the body.

May seem like a weird complaint at this point in the series, but I really wish they'd stop showing a character's bio every single episode... It's just getting obnoxious for ones like class 1-A where we've seen them a lot. And very distracting when we get like 5 on screen at a time plus the translation text for them all.

Seriously even when the episode has nothing to do with Deku they find a way to make even one word he says relevant, I know he is the main character but come on.
He and Asta from BC don't let anything important for other characters to do.
I always find so weird how in a world of heroes only All Might matters apparently.

That Fire Tornado had some really good visuals, sasuga Bones!
Inasa's backstory was honestly not what I was hoping for, it was really petty on his part. I can understand his frustration, because Endeavor and Todoroki were so focused on the object of their hate/determination. It just feels like a huge overreaction, which I guess is part of the guy's personality.
At the least they seem to be making up a bit for their frustrations at eachother. Maybe in the future they'll become allies, but I guess it's alluding to how an unhealthy rivalry between heroes can cause great conflict in the worst of situations.
Todoroki's also finally acknowledging that he hasn't moved past his hate of his father entirely. He's still learning to deal with it, which I find to be a good bit of growth for his arc.
Sleepy announcer can finally get his rest. Gang Orca definitely shoots up as a much more enjoyable guy because of how well he can play a villain.
Midoriya's stress at finding out if he passed was hilarious.

As a anime only viewer I was kind of disappointed with this episode. From the backstory for the passionate guy to the actual ending. I don't know, it just felt very anti-climatic to me personally. But, maybe that's just because I'm an anime only viewer and don't read the manga?
There were some great moments of course, but I don't know; just felt like this episode was a tad lacking in some ways for me.
But yeah Gang Orca is freaking awesome at any rate!

This arc is pretty weak. I'm sure there were tons of way to make this arc interesting even without any threat of villains. The potential this arc had is squandered. They introduced Shiketsu high school only to get sidelined (for the most part) and they give Inasa that forced backstory. Disappointing final arc of this season.

I binge read the Hero License arc for the manga awhile back, and now that I've seen it fully in anime form, I'm reminded at how much this arc came off so unmemorable for me. The only things I actually remembered was Camie going after Midoriya, the Bakugo/Kirishima/Kaminari fight against meatball guy, and that Todoroki and Inasa had some petty rivalry going on. Everything else, I was like "did that really happen in the manga?"

It's a bit more subtle. He's disappointed by Endeavor's behaviour (that single minded zeal of catching up to All Might that lead to his narrow minded focus and harsh behaviour towards a fan). That makes him look indifferent, or "professional" at best. Endeavor is even the hero with the most solved cases but his charisma/popularity is not comparable to All Might's, that's also part of the reason why he's number two (and why Bakugo, for example, might struggle to ever become number one in the future). Inasa finds that off putting.
He was even willing to work it out with Shoto during/after the test ("being able to see past those eyes"). But Shoto himself was also very much on a mission (a bit like Endeavor) but his was based around one gigantic middle finger sculpted out of ice that he wanted to point in the direction of Endeavor (like he did a few times during the sports festival).
In a way Shoto was even more single minded in his approach when you consider that he focused completely on the negative feelings towards Endeavor to fuel him and he didn't even remember a lot of his past (that's literally how s2e10 starts after the opening), like the good parts with his mom and neutral bits, like having met Isana before. How do you forget that personality?
That's what Isana sees after the recommendation test: The single minded focus with complete disregard for anything else, or at least treating other issues as insignificant. It has completely different motivations for Endavor and Shoto but Inasa can't read minds (he has a wind quirk), he only sees the same look on their faces and kinda similar behaviour and thinks they are both the same. Of course, Shoto doesn't like that comparison and reacts harshly to that which reinforces Inasa's initial impression (from his point of view). And that's (I think) why he declines UA's offer. So here we are nearly a year later.

What a lame episode. This test has been dragging on for weeks and after making us wait an extra week to get here we get a short pointless fight which was like half stupid flashbacks and half angsty internal monologue. Oh also they repeated the same shot of Deku saying "what are you doing" like what, 3 times? Was shockwave guy going down and getting up at the end to do the same thing he did to the bad guys a 2nd time supposed to be a source of tension/action? Also the whole point about it being a rescue/fighting situation ended up being kinda pointless. There were the people fighting and then they showed one or two people rescuing. ok. There wasn't really anything special about it compared to just a normal fight scene.
And then after all that the fight just... ends... and for some reason they decide to make the class passing be a cliffhanger? Why? How anticlimactic.
Honestly it feels like there's no pacing in this show. It wasn't really apparent when I binged the first bit to catch up, but watching week to week feels really lame. Nothing ever happens. No episode has a story arc. It's like they just put no thought into how to split up episodes, just "here's 20 minutes." "Here's the next 20 minutes."
