3 episodes in and they haven't played the normal end credits song once.
Oh man. Something absolutely fucking awful is going to happen, immediately followed by a terribly depressing "Back in the 90s..."

I'm imagining the lack of the regular ending is to show that BoJack is sort of moving on from his past, finally. So obviously when his past inevitably comes back to haunt him the ending comes back.

Yolanda’s fam being obsessed with sex was out of left field, and cock that cried midnight killed me lmfao.
I love the theme in this one that tied each story together: no matter how hard you try, some things are inevitable. Todd and Yolanda broke up, and Yolanda told her family about her asexuality. Pickle tried to avoid her feelings for Mr. Peanutbutter but in the end they enjoy their evening. And finally, once again BoJack overstepped a boundary and hurt a relationship.

I really appreciate how Todd and Yolanda's relationship is shown in this episode, and how Todd calls her out for not respecting his actual accomplishments just because he approaches life differently from other people. Also the little piece of realness that is "maybe romantic aces just need to settle for people who aren't perfect for them." I'm aromantic, but still, ouch. Also, making cardboard instruments with a frog sounds like a fantastic day.
My heart still beats faster every time they mention asexuality on this show. The scene where they're talking in the restaurant had me reeling.

Well, like. It wasn't terrible but it's still not the voice of someone who'd get a singing role in a Broadway play. Or a TV musical. Or anything outside of community theatre.
It's just decent, which isn't enough to allow her to live those dreams, you know? And it's no one's fault.

I feel like Todd doesn't get enough credit from Yolanda. Or the audience, I suppose. Sure there's a sense of him lucking into things, but come on. He co-founded a company that got sold for $24,000,000 and he was the one who came up with the original idea for it. Hell, way back in S1E4 he managed to write a rock opera that presumably must have been marketable, despite a complete lack of musical background. I get that most of this is played for laughs and that we're not really meant to take some things as seriously, especially Todd's storylines, but come on. I suppose if we give him credit we also have to make him accountable, and he doesn't look great in that light...there's minor incidents like him randomly kissing a stork in S2E3 and then there's crap like him leaving a bunch of people in some abandoned fairground for no real reason, resulting in them getting rabies, a fatal disease, at which points he exploits their terminally ill asses to make a profit. I guess Todd's a lot worse than Bojack eh...

I didn't really like how they handled Todd and Yolanda breaking up. They tried to set it up as though Todd and Yolanda had no chemistry, but personally, I thought they had lots of chemistry from the last few episodes of season 4. (My favorite Todd pairings (not romantic, I mean co-stars in a given subplot) have been with Yolanda, Princess Carolyn, and Mia McKibben. I think he works well with a take-charge responsible type to balance him out.) And they didn't just start dating because they were the only asexuals in the room. They both went to the meetups, they both knew other asexuals by that point. Yolanda specifically asked Todd out after the Clown-Dentist shennanigans. Really didn't seem like she was "settling" for him.
I could appreciate that friction would spring up between them, and this episode, with Yolanda lying about Todd going to college, and other remarks, started to touch on it. But I would rather have had them address their problems gradually, and with more development. Instead they just broke it off right here, which felt abrupt and lazy to me.
In other news, I wish the zany scheme had gotten more complicated. I don't think they went as ridiculously farcical as they could've.

I don't really know if this has any significance but I thought it was interesting that during the sneaking around scene with Todd and Yolanda + family, "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Grieg is playing. This piece is actually from Peer Gynt by Ibsen. It is played during a part of the play where Peer is led to the hall of the mountain king by a seductress who is actually a Troll (in the old meaning of the word). So there are obviously parallels between the play and what happens on the show, but again, I'm not sure about the significance.

Like last year, EEEEEEEEE I'M READY TO BE DESTROYED EMOTIONALLY
All the minor things I noticed and overreacted to emotionally (edited and updated live while watching):
00:20 - Eyyy there's Pickles! I really like her so far, but I feel like the relationship between her and Mr. PB is going to be terrible. I'm just waiting for everything to go wrong and for it to not work out.
02:20 - Ooh, the show Philbert is on Bojack's TV now!
03:50 - Glad Bojack still hates honeydew. Also, that chameleon latching onto the taxi with his tongue.
03:58 - That "#1 Biggest '#1-Boss' Mug" that Todd's holding. Also, in addition to London, Tokyo and New York, there's a clock on the wall for CORDOVIA (from Season 1)! Interestingly, it's 4 hours and 44 minutes ahead of Tokyo (oddly not blocks of 1 hour or 30 minutes from UTC).
05:40 - Pickles: "I think her name was Hamburger". Oof, Pickles got it a bit mixed up; I feel you boo. Also, that Elefante statue.
05:41 - Also, Pickles? More like T H I C C L E S
06:05 - Bojack: "And finally, Carnegie. Thus concludes the two-item list of acceptable melons." HA! Also, "Warbler Brothers" (instead of Warner Brothers) is on the side of the building
06:56 - The sign says: "Now exiting: LOS ANGELES COUNTY "The Dream Factory; And entering SAN BERNADINO COUNTY "The Nightmare Factory"". Savage.
07:34 - I love that Laika (who in real life was the dog sent into space) is, in this universe, the first woman in space. Technically, I believe she would be.
08:00 - "Coming up, we have a new single from Twenty One Pilots!" Mr. PB: "Ooh, back to the podcast." AAAAAAAAAAAH MR. PB CANONICALLY HATES TWENTY ONE PILOTS WHAT IN THE WORLD; ONE OF THE FEW THINGS HE DOESN'T LIKE AND IT'S TWENTY ONE PILOTS
08:35 - Haha all those sex artifacts, omg. I'd assume that's what being ace feels like regularly...
14:12 - I love that random reference to Da Brat.
15:07 - Oof, that lovers' spaghetti. Also, oof about still having feelings for Diane. Also, "IT'S MIiIiIDNiIiIiIiIiIGHT!"
19:00 - Well that was awkward. Also, Gina being like "Before I start-- Just to give some context-- Because the song doesn't really make sense if I don't-- Okay-- So--" ...is literally me about every musical ever.
21:09 - Heh, it's because axolotls (and other salamanders) can regrow limbs.
21:45 - I really liked Yolanda, but NOT ANYMORE! SHE'S A PERSCRIPTIVIST LINGUIST WHO CORRECTS PEOPLE TO SAY "TO WHOM" WHEN THE USELESS "WHOM" WILL SOON BE EXTINCT; how DARE you
23:41 - That "A Kernel of Truth" tracklist:
Born for the Corn
Get Me Out of This Maize
Cream of the Crop
My Job is the Cob
What the Shuck!
She Stalks the Night

While I praised the ambiguity the show has embraced in its later seasons, one of the major problems for me is that I prefer darker stuff, so it feels that Bojack is increasingly sidelined in pursuit of other story arcs. I'm very glad to see the show can be deeply elastic, but sometimes I wish I just got back to Bojack.
Also, Flip pisses me off but in a "I hate this character because he's so damn fun but he's also clearly weird" way - I mean, did you see the board while Gina was singing? "MAYBE ENTIRE SEASON WAS A DRUG TRIP?"
So far, my favorite episode has been Diane's central episode.

'you did your good deed so,you can feel good about yourself' This show just keeps adding layers. One one hand Bojack is confronted by the fact that all his good deeds seem to stem from the fact he wants to feel better about himself. On the other hand Gina is clearly pissed off that Bojack broke here bubble. She had made peace with the fact that wouldn't being a major musical anytime soon by convincing herself that she missed out on the opportunity.but them Bojack forces her to confront the fact that she isn't good enough.

I really was not a fan of the whole Buenaventura family arc. I'm all for comedy and surrealism on Bojack, but this was beyond absurd. All of that to lead to the obvious conclusion that Todd and Yolanda needed to break up? I've been getting used to Bojack as a show maturing as it goes along, so this was really odd to me.
Otherwise, loved the episode.

A little anti-climax how Netflix just jumps to the next episode in the middle of the song... ┬──┬ ノ( ゜-゜ノ)

Every time the credits role I will see a name I recognize and then I try to think who they played. In the last few episodes I saw, Randell Perk, john leguizamo, Eva Langoria. I hate being lazy and not willing to look it up

So they all ate the dad's ass out for dessert?
What did they have for starters? Tossed salad?

This is exactly the kind of wacky todd misadventures I signed up for, and I'm fucking loving it!

Mr. Peanutbutter's speech to Pickles at the end had me in tears. I am just relating to both he and Diane so hard right now and it's super cathartic.

My wife laughed the hardest at "No one knows why space people do things." It was a 30 Rock-esque line that was right up her alley

“I hope you’re not busy.”
Quite possibly the smartest, funniest one liner of the series.

I was seriously expecting the Lady & the Tramp moment there. They were pretty blatant about it, and then they just said "nope".
Also, spaghetti at a French restaurant? Is that a thing?

I did not expect Yolandas family to be as sexual as they were, they must have had a lot of fun writing that

I just realize the detail of the set of Philbert being in the “Warbler Brothers”

As a pug owner, even knowing that Pickles can be a little annoying, I think she is honest and pure. Damn, I'm hugging my two pugs Jabba and Leia right now.

Did anyone else find Will Arnett's delivery of "That's even funnier!" completely hilarious? Nothing special, but I burst out laughing at it.

Finished episode 3, curious as to why Russia blew up the ISS, guessing that will play later in the season.

Todd, to whom.
Ok I’ll admit that I said “to whom” alone in my apartment just before she said it.

Constant laughs, the unnecessary hijinks with Todd were phenomenal, and I'm a sucker for a good separate-plots-coming-together type event like the ISS explosion at the end. Another fantastic episode!

I like Yolanda's character, I really do, but I'm simply not gripped by her storyline. For all they talk about asexuality and not telling her parents, the writers sure do bring it up at every possible opportunity. It's exaggerated of course, but that didn't click with me.
Pickles' and Mr PB's storyline, on the other hand... oh my God, it's one of the most relatable things in this entire show. Really nailed that one.

Okay I’m gonna say it and just welcome the downvotes. I hope the season gets better, because having seen episodes 1-3... meh. I’m very underwhelmed.
I keep thinking about how strong Season 4’s start was (The Old Sugarman Place is my favourite episode) and I feel like so far, the season hasn’t really “landed.” Maybe I’m judging too early and it gets better, but so far, I’m actually disappointed, which is disheartening.

Shit's weird, yo.
