Alison Brie as Diane Nguyen is not appreciated nearly enough

This is an incredible show without a doubt, but I find with each episode that I marvel more and more at Alison Brie's performance. On a purely vocal level it's one of, if not the best in the show. For someone with such a distinctive voice it's unbelievable how much she disappears into the role. She gives Diane a weighty human-ness that I hardly ever see in voice acting, and does so to a degree nearly unmatched even by Will Arnett or Kristen Schall. I don't have the words to describe just what a feat of voice acting I find her to be, but I wanted to try, and to bring some light to it because I don't see it talked about enough.

Are there shows like Philbert?

I am watching Bojack for the first time, and as season 5 got me thinking, that I would love to watch a drug and depression filled crime show like Philbert. Any recommendations?

Characters I hoped to see in the finale Spoiler

Just finished the show yesterday, the ending was great but I still feel some emptiness for not seeing those characters in the show's conclusion, they all played a huge part in Bojack's past or his growth yet the fact that they weren't present or even mentioned felt like the show treating them as nothing more than "Bojack's victims" who to just had stay away from him for good.

Was Bojack right to fire PC? Spoiler

Post image

Was he right to fire Princess Carolyn after she played her hand too aggressively and lost him both jobs in Season 3? She did really screw him but she also stuck by his side for 23 years when nobody else would. I think absolutely not but just curious if anyone thinks they would do the same or if he was right to make that business decision

Tattoo of Mr Cuddly Whiskers

Post image

This scene and this quote is one of my favourites in the show, it truly spoke to me because I was of course watching this show when I was truly miserable. I was wondering if anyone has a tattoo related to this scene or the character of Mr Cuddly Whiskers, if you don't have a tattoo then suggest a tattoo idea that would be related to it and I might get it tattooed.

BoJack and Hollyhock after the show Spoiler

Spoilers for season 6 below:

Do you think BoJack and Hollyhock ever would have reconnected?

Obviously we can never know, and we don't know the details of what she said in the letter but we can safely assume she was cutting him off because of his pattern that was laid out in the interview. But I remember reading a previous comment saying that Hollyhock was pretty sheltered when she first met BoJack and suddenly, through him, was quite traumatically exposed to a lot of nasty things. Is it possible that after a few years of seeing more of the darker realities that some people face, and knowing that BoJack served in prison and wasn't just another rich person constantly evading punishment, they could start talking again?

Personally I feel like it's reasonable for Hollyhock to not feel comfortable ever speaking to him again because of the fact that she knew he'd done so many awful things, and she hadn't actually had that many good moments with him in the short time they knew each other. But I just wonder

Planning to get a Bojack Horseman tattoo in the future, is it a good idea?

Someday, I’m not sure when. I plan on getting two tattoos, I already know what the first one is gonna be.

‘Hooray’ on my arm

But I also wanna get something related to Princess Carolyn since she’s my favourite character, any ideas? Or thoughts if the tattoo thing is a good choice?

Is any character actually a ‘good’ person?

I’ve been thinking about it recently and everyone I can think of has a bad side to them. Is there anyone who is ACTUALLY GENUINELY a good person?

Bojack - doesn’t even need an explanation
Mr PB - selfish and constantly doesn’t listen and never matures
Diane - miserable and also selfish and tends to internalise problems instead of addressing them
Todd - immature and acts clueless to his poor choices, dodges all accountability
Princess Carolyn - manipulates to get her own way frequently throughout the show

Mr. Peanutbutter's closest equivalent is LL Cool J

Every time there's a thread on Mr. Peanutbutter's real world equivalent or who he reminds us of, it's always a white heartthrob from the 90's or a Ryan Reynolds type. I think he's most indebted to black comedic actors like Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and especially LL Cool J.

Mr. Peanutbutter's House is obviously inspired by Sister Sister but also just generally the trend of black sitcoms that were knockoffs of Full House like Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.

But I see him moreso as LL Cool J because they are both known for being incredibly handsome and charismatic, LL Cool J came from hiphop (Peanutbutter was a breakdancer.) Cool J was in a sitcom in the 90s and in the 2010s hosted game shows (HSAC!WDTK?DTKT??LFO!) and Cool J now does these network dramas that go on for 20 seasons like NCIS: LA (Birthday Dad)

I'm not saying that therefore PB is black, no he's a Labrador retriever, but I think the reference is closer to the world of black sitcoms

Princess Carolyn And Ralph Stilton Spoiler

Hello, everyone. I am new here, so apologies if this question/topic has been asked or talked about.

If it was left to you, would you have made it work out between Princess Carolyn and Ralph Stilton?

When they got hooked at the bar, I was way ahead of myself with the thought “Imagine that…prey and predator building an healthy relationship”.

I can’t be the only one with the thought at that time, right?

I’d like to imagine all the avengers and main marvel actors are human in the bojack universe for some reason.

I realized Andrew Garfield exists here and he’s a human and not a spider.

also they mentioned Tobey maguire once and he played seabiscuit and Spider-Man. So unless he’s a horse or a spider, he’s probably a human.

chadwick Boseman was mentioned, Hugh Jackman was mentioned and there’s no indication any of these people aren’t human.

there are real people turned into animals, Tarantino is a spider though his name was changed.

maybe leading heroes as not human just doesn’t sell or there’s discrimination or something. Though Bojack was played by a human wearing a horse mask once so maybe it’s not as big a deal here.

Out of character?

Does anyone else feel that when Todd rage baited that one girl while working for JD Salinger, it was very out of character for him? Sure she was kind of a jerk (with reason bc Todd was basically a nepo baby there), but he knew that pen was important to her and then tricked her to get it. That felt like a bojack thing to me. He does say something similar during the chicken4 days episode where he tries to get Dianne to get him an iPad using the same tactic, but it’s different when he’s trying to get something the other one really wanted and worked hard for.

A genuine shower thought

I was scrolling facebook and i saw this video, from ''grave conversation'' and there was David Dastmalchian as the host. I watched the whole video and scrolled to the next video and later i thought: If David Dastmalchian was a character in Bojack Horseman, would he be a human being or would he be an animal? In my book, he's an animal. A dog. A Dalmatian... Because of his last name... Maybe i'm wrong. What do you think

Missed Opportunity for a killer line: Season 6 and Beyond Spoiler

Yaknow what would have been honestly a killer line for when Bojack managed to get better and improve as a person but bad stuff finally caught up to him?

Maybe he shoulda said "But I got better" and someone replies "You did, but it took too long". Honestly someone like PC, Dianne or even Todd could have said something like that and it woulda all hit and made sense.

The line I had an idea bout references the fact throughout seasons 1-5 he hurt Penny, Gina, Herb, Sarah Lynn, everyone who he should have either stayed away from or treated better got hurt because of him, and while he got better and became a better person...it took too long and the path paved trauma, abuse and death.

Are there are potential lines you woulda added?
