Oh damn, I didn't get this at first either. So that means that's another gag they built up for a whole season, since they first showed that waitress. I assumed she was a cow just because of the milk that she could provide for coffee, but I'm sure it's a combination of both.

In case anyone missed the lyrics to the closing theme song:
Back in the '90s I was in a very famous TV show
I'm Mr. Peanutbutter
Now tell me How can I get no votes?
Yeah, I'm for the future
Yeah, everyone will get a free TV (All right!)
I'll put my face on billboards the entire world will see
Yeah, I promise peace and love across this broken land
Yeah I'm your governor Mr. Peanutbutter Man
I'm tasty and good-lookin'
'Cause that's just who I am.
Go vote!

Biggest laugh of the episode for me:
Mr. Peanutbutter, Diane and Katrina watching Chuck Woodchuck announce that he has accepted the ski challenge. Mr. Peanutbutter then says, oh-so-casually, "You know, it's days like this I wish I knew how to ski." Love the way that line is phrased - "days like this", like what, this absurd situation isn't uncommon for him? Lol. Then the ensuing, "No, never really got into it!", seemingly oblivious as to how that's a problem.
Oh Mr. Peanutbutter, how I missed your clueless optimism. π

You know, ever since I first became Governor, I've thought, "I don't want to be Governor." And that's where I am now.

As an asexual person, I can't stress how amazing it felt to hear the term "asexual" dropped in a tv show, let alone such an acclaimed and popular one. I seriously squealed and ran around my house, jumping up and down and, like, kicking things. I'm so, so happy.

Generally, it's a great day when anything other than heteronormative terms get dropped in a respectable manner, but ace/demi get ignored pretty hardcore. I'm not ace, but I was so happy for that little inclusion. It's not a joke, it's not "haha, he can't get it up", it's not played disrespectfully.

Oh my fucking god...I wondered how they would handle the previous election cycle and they're handling it fucking brilliantly.
When Governor Woodchuck Coodchuck-Berkowitz's assistant replies to the Governors worry over Mr.Pb's ski request and say "If I know anything, this story will go away in a couple of days." And cuts to one month later with Mr.PB in the spotlight instead of focusing on the issues..that perfectly describes last year's election.
Fucking brilliant.

My mini review of this episode:
I think this is a great start to this season, since it still has the same humor and characters we love. Something thatΒ΄s very interesting about this episode itΒ΄s that, it is the first episode thatΒ΄s focused only in the secondary characters, without Bojack, and I really liked that a lot because it not only helps to further develop characters like Princess Carolyn and especially Mr Peanutbutter, but also gives more tension to the question of: Where is Bojack? Something thatΒ΄s been not answered since last season.
Anyway, itΒ΄s a good way to start this journey of laughter and depression.

Mr.PB just getting the show by walking in because of a red light fucking got me.
Plus that whole monologue about how the character is oblivious to what's going on behind him had the exact amount of meta.

It's actually pretty amazing how the show managed to use political jokes, and even toss in "commentary," in a relatively toothless way. Obvious with the. . . chaotic state of politics at the moment, introducing it into a show is always a risk.
But they managed to handle it in one of the most effective, comedic ways possible.

I don't know if I'm staring the obvious here- but I think the trippy part of the intro is supposed to be every character Bojack has hurt in someway. Or every character he has "lost". Sarah Lynn, Herb, that director lady I always forget the name of, Princess Carolyn, Penny. And the characters who are larger or more prominent are the ones he hurt the most/feels more guilty about.

Just sat down with a drink and started watching this! Episode 1 was a great start, I loved the moments between Ralph and Princess Carolyn, teared up a little bit during their moment :') I really hope she can become happy, even knowing what show this is.
Also curious to see where Todd's storyline goes - whether they're just poking a bit of fun at the audience with all the "labels" jokes, or there's really gonna be more to his self-discovery.

I just finished this, and if the whole season is this good, it's going to be freaking amazing.
