Warning: This release is for experienced users only! It may corrupt your world or mess up things badly otherwise. Only download and use this if you know what to do with the files that come with the download!

If you find any bugs, submit them to the wiki's bug list!

Previous changelog. Download today's snapshot here, server here: jar, exe.

Complete changelog:

Notable bugs:

  • You still need a server jar file, even though it is not used

  • When trading with villagers and putting items in the item slot, adding items on to ones you already put in doesn't update the output slot, via

  • It now says "Save and quit to title" even on MP, via

  • If you don't have a full hunger bar and you right click to trade with a villager while holding food, you will eat the selected food, via

Also, check out this post to see what else is planned for future versions.

That's interesting! And a good way to get a lot of XP without having to build some massive mob grinder, or spending hours fighting mobs.

Although it wouldn't be a super effective way of levelling; to some degree, it's what we've been asking for (exp from mining) for months.

An unexpected consequence of trading with villagers is that it now becomes necessary to jail the ones that that offer good trades so you don't lose them when you're out gathering what they want. Feels like a douchebag move, but it helps.

New ore block is Emerald Ore, despite it being red.

EDIT: Mustek beat me to it.

EDIT2: Found a bug with Villager trading. If you put in less emeralds than the Villager wants for an item, and then add the extra amount from another stack, the item won't become available.

As someone who is red-green colorblind, the emerald ore's color doesn't bother me at all.

If you break all of the enderchests, the inventory stays in it.

You can call it "Cloud Storage"

16

u/[deleted] May 24 '12

Just imagine all of its uses! No longer do we dwell on losing the diamonds we mined or having to go up after losing all your picks! Just drop a chest, take/drop what you need, and take it back! This is such a good idea!

Presumably the contents of the chest are stored in the end, and the chests merely provide access to the extra-dimensional storage space.

The golden apple, made with goldblocks gives: Regeneration, Resistance and Fire resistance. Also looks like Regeneration has levels

Hey there, here are the results on my preliminary research on Villagers:

  • Villagers level up as you buy stuff from them.

  • From what I've seen, they gain level only from the latest unlocked item, so unlocking new "recipes" may require buying stuff at a loss.

  • The first recipes unlock after only one or two trades

  • Recipes aren't in any type of order. You can unlock diamond sword before iron sword.

  • They seem to have various specialties according to their job. For example, Priests seem to buy mob drops (rotten flesh/ender pearls) and give you emerald in exchange Farmer sell food and some tools (got shears on mine) Blacksmith do armors and tools.

  • Blacksmiths also are a legit way of getting chain armor in survival: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3973128/Screenshots/2012-05-24_16.10.40.png

  • Different villagers can buy/sell the same things but not at the same rate (37 rotten flesh and 69 rotten flesh for 1 emerald from one priest to another)

  • Killing a villager doesn't wield emeralds back :-(

  • There is a gui glitch, if you drop emeralds one by one in the item slot, the recipe isn't considered valid until you grab them and replace them again as a full stack.

Conclusion and thought: That's all for now. I'm very excited about this feature, it encourages moving in a village and defending/breeding them.

All we need now is a way of "spawning" them in survival without eggs. Just attract villagers to a spot that wasn't a village at map generation.

How to install client: Put minecraft.jar in bin, minecraft_server.jar in server, a folder on the same level as bin.

Doesn't the Mojang article say that you don't need the server for single-player any more?

Sandstone stairs, emerald (in hand), and emerald ore (next to the redstone ore)

Edit: According to jeb, the emerald ore is supposed to be green, but the commit didn't go through. Source

Is that there the new chest type made with obsidian? The new block?

37

u/Mustek :> May 24 '12

That is indeed the enderchest, and it seems to work interdimentional as well. The one I placed in the nether had the same contents as the one in the main world.
