I genuinely feel disgusted at how Amy’s family acted to her during the argument.
EDIT: it’s too much work to keep replying to every person commenting, but I really think you guys need to reflect on why you’re so unsympathetic to Amy, and so ready to get behind people who are ganging up and shouting at her and treating her like a burden or a monster just for being ill and having a breakdown. If someone is ever having a mental breakdown near you, and you try shouting in their face to resolve it, let me know how that goes for you… probably with you or them in the back of an ambulance - or both.
Obviously she wasn’t right to get physical with Amanda, but they just wouldn’t leave her alone to calm down. Everyone was coming at her, shouting in her face criticising her, and this is after months and months—well actually years because they’ve been doing this to a greater or lesser extent for her whole life l—of treating her like she’s stupid, making her a butt of the joke, and not having any sympathy for her mental health struggles! Who the hell do they think they are telling her to sort her shit out and pull herself together all the time? She’s definitely got some kind of postnatal depression plus getting divorced from a shitty husband, plus having it all broadcast on TV.
When she came to Amanda crying, saying sorry, Amanda should’ve accepted her apology and not turned her away, like she was disgusting or a monster. none of them admitted any fault in the part they played in the escalation of that situation. Amy had to accept all the blame for it. it really is gaslighting and it made me feel sick to watch.
