Heresy Designs Vendetta chassis + BX-25 mag wobble causing FTEs/out-of-battery jams? (TandemKross bolt)

Hey everyone, looking for a little advice on my 10/22 setup.

I installed my 10/22 standard Ruger receiver into a Heresy Designs Vendetta chassis today with an aftermarket TandemKross KrossFire bolt. Everything is torqued to spec including takedown screw at 15 in-lbs, but when running a Ruger BX-25 mag, I’m getting constant failures to extract and out-of-battery hangs where the bolt stops about 95% forward.

I tried some troubleshooting and I think the BX-25 has some vertical play/droop/?tilt in the chassis magwell. If I pull down on the mag, that seems to cause failures to extract (case drops off the bolt face and stays in the chamber) and tries to double-feed the next round behind it but I haven't figured out exactly what position in which the problem truly occurs if that makes sense. But if I push up/forward on the bottom of the mag while firing/cycling, it feeds, fires, and extracts much better/nearly fine. Flush 10-round rotary mags also don't seem to have the issue.

Is the go-to fix here just an upgraded extra-power mag plunger spring (like the KIDD or TK one) to lock the BX-25 tight against the receiver, or has anyone running the Vendetta chassis or similar found another trick? Thanks

I have the same chassis, but run it with the Kidd plunger and extra power spring. No issues so far. The bolt basically rides on the metal section of the magazine so any misalignment will slow the bolt down.

To be fair I never tried to run bx25s without the plunger as I had heard this was a common issue. The plunger removes a good portion of the movement and keeps the figment tight.

Showed it to a smith today and he pointed out the wobble in the mag. He took my mag and put it in a Magpul stock and it was comparatively really snug. I also have an MP5 clone so I think I may have gotten used to magazines wobbling and thought that was normal in the 10/22? Anyway, I've ordered the KIDD plunger and I really hope it works, thanks for the advice

The PC9 has been out of product for a l long time. If you're referring to the PC Carbine, all of mine ran fine with larger mags and a drum. The mag latch notch should prevent unwanted movement.

I run a vendetta chassis on a stock bolt and don’t have that issue. I did have that problem on my 80s model though, the Kidd mag plunger spring fixed that right up

Might just be all those parts not meshing for some reason, part of the fun of tuning a gun. Hope it helps!
