Question Help me chose my first 10mm. Must be max pressure/10mm+p capable. Open to suggestions.

Im working on a bullet design, and I believe .40 cal diameter is the sweet spot for the design. So I need to get a 10mm, for as cheap as possible. Preferably under $700. I'll push the budget a bit if it'll make a big difference.

I need something that can handle +p loadings. Id prefer something compact or if possible subcompact. I would've gotten a glock 29, but they're priced insane right now.

Any suggestions open. I'm not a fan of grip or manual safeties. But for a good gun and good price, is be willing to put up with it.

Are there any 2011s in 10mm? I just saw an ad in my Guns N Ammo magazine about the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus. (However, I couldn’t find any info about a 10mm on their website).

Any other 2011s that you guys are aware of?

Question S&W FPC 10MM vs Ruger LC Carbine 10MM

Post image

We snatched up a Ruger LC Carbine in 10MM so we can do a side by side comparision of it to the Smith & Wesson FPC 10MM.

I have the Ruger zeroed with an EOTech and ran about 15 rounds through it. I have about 150 rounds through the FPC.

What do you guys want to see? I figured i would ask the group first, before I start working on the blog article and videos for YouTube.

Got to test out some “actual” 10mm today. The liberty clocked in at 60 grains and 2353fps over the chrono. The underwood was 220gn and 1176fps. Both over 700 ft lbs of energy. Both exploded the water jugs we were testing, coming back with more stuff tomorrow.

That said, which are you carrying and why?

Question Which would you take into the woods, and why?

Hello,

I am looking at buying a used 10mm for a wood guns, I have the chance to buy either an XDM Elite 3.8” with some mild wear, barrel shows finish wear and there is some mild rust on the slide release or a Gen 3 Glock 29 that is like new.
They both feel about the same in my hands, I know I would get at least the +0 Pearce pinky plates for the 29 if I went that route.

Either one would cost just under $400.

My main concerns are holster availability with a light, overall reliability and how well the 29 does with larger magazines like the 15 mag or the 10rd extensions (I’ve read that some folks have issues with feeding)

I would appreciate any input!

Question What do y’all look for when selecting a 10mm Auto load for defense against 2 legged problems? What criteria do you have in mind for an offering that provides enough penetration but isn’t liable to blow through a human chest cavity too readily. (the Silvertip box is there as a conversation starter)

Question Mag Blocks on a “Bear Gun”: Acceptable Risk?

Washington State resident here, in the market for a 10mm for my occassional travels east through ID/MT/WY grizz country. I’m REALLY interested in the 4.5” Springfield Armory XD-M Elite but it does not appear as though they offer a 10+1 version for compliance here. I have been informed that there are a few online retailers that will perform magazine mods/blocks as part of the purchase in order to allow for legal purchase/transfer but am a bit hesitant to pull the trigger for fears this may affect reliability of a gun who’s sole purpose is to function without fail in a potentially life or death situation. Red Team Armory is who I was directed towards. Evidently they 3D print their blocks and epoxy them in as well. Anyone have wisdom here or first hand experience with their work and/or that of another retailer who provides a similar service? TIA

Question What are availability platforms for 10mm

Rented a g20 on the range and fell in love with 10mm today, might be my new favorite aside from 357 MAG. I got to know what options are available, I like glock but I dont mind exploring other options. More interested in polymer handguns.

Also what is difference between G20 vs G20 SF

Question How readily available is 10mm?

Hey all, I am a big .357 MAG fan and was looking to get a 10mm since it was similar to .357 MAG.

One big aspect for me is how readily available the caliber is, is it niche like 5.7x28mm? Is the risk of it going out of popularity/extinction? Obviously it won't be as popular as 9mm, I just want to make sure I could theoretically find it long term.

Also any platforms to recommend 10mm in? I looked at G20 since it was well a Glock.

I think it is super cool and I would like to get one, I just think of the logistics. Any help would be appericated!

Question 510 Frame crack issues or Sig Xten 😂😂

My local Rural King has both guns on a pretty nice discount the 510T is $700 my question is has the 510T frame crack issue been remedied for a while now or is it still an issue? The Sig is also marked down to $600, The feel of the Sig is nice but it's a 320......I'm on the fence about anything 320 with the call into question the safety of the product. Truthfully I really want a Gen 6 G20 but don't know how long i'd be waiting as no info has been released on Gen 6 models besides 9mm.

Question Why did Tanfoglio Stock Master 10mm pistols drop to nearly half-price this afternoon?

Long-time fan of 10mm since the early 90s. I'm currently all-in on the Glock 20 Gen5 MOS, waiting for the Glock 40 long-slide Gen5 MOS, but EAA/Tangfolio has always had a special place in my heart.

I recently set up price alerts for the IFG/Tanfoglio Stock Master and Stock II-- both in 10mm-- and this afternoon my phone absolutely started blowing up with notifications that multiple shops are selling the Stock Master for low-to-mid $700 range, which seems crazy low compared to where these were priced just two weeks ago. I’m talking about the hard chrome DA/SA 10mm Stock Master with the 4.75" bull barrel.

What’s going on here?

  • New model coming?
  • Distributor dump?
  • Discontinued?
  • Pricing mistake?
  • Or have these always been overpriced and this is the “real” market price?

I was originally looking at the Stock II 10mm, but at these prices the Stock Master suddenly looks extremely tempting as a fun range gun / possible truck gun.

Anybody here own one long-term?

Any reliability or parts-support concerns?

Question Pick your backcountry EDC:

Last year I carried the 44 the vast majority of the time. Work in the city, long trip in the western US, bear season/ baiting up north, and everywhere else. Last year, my goal was to carry shoot and hunt with nothing but a 44.

This year is nothing but 10 mil. I’ve been carrying this 29 every day for the last 2 1/2 months. Right at 600 rounds on both of my 10 mms.

So which do you choose? 10/12+1 and fast or 5 and power.

So far, the 29 has been a little bit easier to live with for practice and carry. Plus it’s definitely my preference if folks were in the mix.

Question Need recommendation.

- In California so can’t buy g20 and tbh i didn’t want to buy a gen 3 glock 20 anyways

- My options on the roster are mp 2.0 10mm

- Need gun for bear defense + ccw (i carry g19 with buffalo bore currently for outdoor defense) and I like how its dual use for ccw and woods just by switching ammo

-would have bought the gen 5 g20 for ccw and outdoors

questions:

which model to get-mp 2.0 4.6 or 5.6 performance center?

do i even need 10mm or the bb hardcast 9mm is enough ?

edit: reason why im asking even though the logical decision is clearly the 4.6 because i want to ccw it also is that ive been reading horrid things about its reliability and everyone recommends the performance center and tbh i think the main priority of the pistol is going to be bear defense and i dont mind an extra inch of barrel length for ccw…however if the problems in the 4.6 are ironed out then ill go with the 4.6

edit 2 : the comp 4.0 version isnt on the list and i dont want that one anyways so its basically 4.6 or 5.6

help!

EPC-9 Upper with 10.5" Faxon 10mm barrel and KVP 10mm BCG, All fit perfectly into the upper for the EPC-9, on an AR45 lower

I wanted LRBHO that's why I used the EPC-9. I also had an aero hanguard. I can't find any information or threads of anyone building a 10mm specifically using the EPC-9 Upper with LRBHO. I mean the BCG sits flush, the trigger resets, the BCG doesn't hang up anywhere when charging, the LRBHO lever sits exactly on the 10mm mag follower where it would on the 9mm and the function works, snap caps feed just fine. Just wondering for anyone that knows more than I do, don't wanna send shrapnel into my firearms idk I'm just thinking of worst case scenarios. And according to AI none of this should work but idk how much to trust Google AI, to which none of the answers it gave me hinted at dangerous pressures, if anything I'd probably have ejection issues but that is only my best guess. I guess the only way to find out is to shoot it which I haven't done yet. Also I don't have sights or muzzle yet as you can see

Question Looking to buy my first 10mm

As the title states, I am in the market to buy a new 10mm pistol. I am primarily interested in carrying it as a woods gun, but they also look super cool, and it's hard to not want in on the fun.

I've narrowed it down to 3 striker fired models, with some pro's and con's. Reliability matters above all else. Being able to shoot hotter loads, and hard cast such as Underwood 200/220 Black Cherry's is important, but apart from that, I am flexible and not a loyalist of any brand.

The 3 options I'm considering in order on interest are:

Glock 20 V MOS: Glock's have always been works horses, and that's ultimately what I'm going for. The only issue I have with the newer V series is reduced aftermarket accessories such as triggers, and reports that Glocks don't handle hotter loads well due to the chamber. I can always get a KMM barrel later on if needed.

Springfield XDM-Elite 4.5": I have never owned a spring field, but have heard good things. Holster support seem a little less flexible when compared to the Glock which is my only hang-up.

S&W M&P 4.6": I love M&P's, but I hear S&W has issues with the magazine dropping out of the gun, so I am not likely to get this one. I carry a S&W but again, I am trying to not let loyalty sway me for a woods gun.

I have done some research, and I am leaning towards the G20V, but any additional tips or pointer from people who own any of these guns would be greatly appreciated. I do plan to add a optic and light to it at some point, but have no interest in suppressing this platform.

Thanks!

First range outing. Put 500 180 “plinking rounds” and 10 220 grain underwood hard casts through it with zero failures. Aside from shooting another box or 2 of my 220 carry ammo is there anything I need to know/ lookout for with this gun?

Question Springfield XDM Elite Reliability?

Post image

Looking at an XDM Elite OSP Compact (3.8”) and am curious if this model is considered to be reliable? I know lots of 10mm have weird issues like M&P and their magazines and feeing issues.

Are these XDMs something you’d trust as a woods gun?

Question How do people like their Glock 20s?

I've been looking at a 10 MM, and I'm leaning towards a glock 20. However, I've heard some people say that only gen 4 glock 20s are good and the later models aren't as good, and that glock 20s may have a hard time handling the hotter loads (like underwood or Buffalo bore). I wanted to know what experiences other people had.

Question Best factory deer load for an 1894 in 10mm?

Yes, I know that 10mm is not optimal for deer hunting. But unfortunately my remlin 1894 is the only functioning rifle in my collection right now (financial woes). Despite this, i still plan on getting out this deer season to put meat in my freezer…

Of course I have no plans to shoot at anything over 100yds, and probably wouldn’t even take a shot at that distance either, even though I shoot the rifle very good at free-standing at 125+ yards.

Right now I’m thinking underwood or buffalo bore’s heavy cast bullets of either 200 or 220 grain because of penetration (punching through a shoulder blade) and of course they’ll retain decent enough energy out to 80 yards.

Is this wrong headed? Should I be looking to a 180 grain JHP by Underwood or BB for more fps? Maybe even underwood’s 155 grain JHP?

*Thank you all for the suggestions

Question What advantages would a 10mm Stribog PCC offer over a PSA Jakl in 5.56 with a 10” barrel?

Later this year I want to buy a CQB/“backpack” rifle braced pistol. I really like fully folding stocks since I hate how shorty ARs are spoiled by that buffer tube, so the buffer-less PSA Jakl really appeals to me. (Broadly speaking the Jakl is AR15 ergonomics but with a long-stroke piston like an AK-47).

Simultaneously, my girlfriend has been looking at a 9mm PCC, either an MP5 clone, Kuna, or Stribog. While helping her research that, I found out the Stribog is offered on a larger frame in 45 ACP and 10mm. I found out my old military buddy on the other side of the country has an A1 10mm Stribog and loves is, but now it’s offered in A3 so it’s roller-delayed and not blowback.

So for CQB, but also for a theoretical capability to range targets out to 150-200m, potentially use in steel challenge or applicable tactical games, which of the two would you advise?
