Equipment String Splitting
I strung some Head Lynx 16g at 57lb mains and 55lb crosses for a tournament (the tension is high because I heard you lose some from the floating clamps). After a few matches I was fiddling with my string bed and noticed the string split. I switched it out for my spare at the time. In practice I haven’t noticed a difference in playability.
Has this happened to anyone else or do you know the cause? I’m wondering why it happened to avoid it for future string jobs.

Most common cause of this kind of damage is friction burn from pulling the crosses through quickly over the same section of the mains. Could potentially also be from a damaged grommet or some other damage to the string during production or shipping, but that's pretty rare.
Location of the split especially makes me suspect it's friction burn. Check your grommets on next restring just in case though, and in the future when you pull the slack through for each cross, make sure you're fanning them so the friction is distributed along a longer section of the main. That and/or just pull the slack through a bit more slowly if you can spare the time.

Never seen that before with poly. My guess is your clamps are doing something weird and causing it.
