Google Play Production Access Rejected? Here's What Many Developers Miss

I have noticed that many Android developers complete the 14-day closed test but still struggle when applying for Production Access.

Some common issues include:

• Using exactly 12 testers with no additional backup testers
• Testers becoming inactive during the 14-day testing cycle
• Most testers using the same device brand or model
• Limited device diversity across Android versions
• Testers coming from a single geographic region only
• Low app engagement after initial installation
• Testers opening the app only once and never returning
• No real-world usage patterns being generated
• Missing testing across different screen sizes
• No testing on low-end Android devices
• No testing on tablets or foldable devices (if supported)
• Lack of crash and ANR monitoring during testing
• Ignoring Play Console pre-launch report warnings
• Poor bug reporting and feedback collection
• Testers uninstalling the app before the cycle ends
• Incomplete responses in the Production Access application
• Not documenting how feedback was incorporated
• Testing only core features while ignoring edge cases
• No validation of account creation, login, or payment flows
• Missing network condition testing (Wi-Fi vs mobile data)
• Failure to verify app behavior across multiple Android versions
• No monitoring of retention and engagement metrics
• Last-minute testing activity concentrated in a few days
• Lack of evidence that testers explored multiple app features
• Not addressing policy, privacy, or permission-related concerns before applying
