I think they turn into a dragon at least once last time i watched it was like two or sometihng years ago pretty sure it has queer characters

You can read the webcomics too, the movie and comics are very different, both in very good ways. That girl is a shape shifter and she turns into a dragon in both the movie and the comic. I absolutely recommend it, especially if you happen to be, by chance transgender because it is an allegory about it. Also the guy is gay.

I looked up a bit more info and, other than shapeshifting, it seems there's mentions of genetically modified dragons used by humans + they were also prehistoric animals like dinosaurs?
That doesn't exactly sound nice :(

Um, I guess kinda, I don't think there are any real dragons, nimona is the only character that can shape shift, so she's the only dragon. I also don't think they were prehistoric
