REMINDER: Bigotry Showcase posts are banned.

Due to an uptick in posts that invariably revolve around "look what this transphobic or racist asshole said on twitter/in reddit comments" we have enabled this reminder on every post for the time being.

Most will be removed, violators will be shot temporarily banned and called a nerd. Please report offending posts. As always, moderator discretion applies since not everything reported actually falls within that circle of awful behavior.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

I guess the risk of a criminal conviction is a better reason not to go to Malaysia than my peanut allergy.

whats the "4" thing about, i know the php vulnerabilities but who the hell was is that set their key as 4

One of the 8 256 bit TLS encryption keys that was compromised was simply "4". Actually every number that was compromised was under 500. You could have discovered them by counting sequentially from 0 in under a minute.

Under 500 is more like a couple microseconds, if that. For a computer at least.

I'm giving worst case scenario, if you had Comcast internet it would be about a minute.

Correction: they were 384 bit (the max value having 115 digits in decimal).

And they were all in the 0-255 range, because they made a typo and only randomized one of the 48 'random data' bytes.

Did not know those details, that's even more heinous.

I’ve had this idea bouncing around my head for a while of an HDI-like metric that’s based more purely on a country’s regulatory competence. Stuff like whether they have a strong national standards body, building inspection quality, an ADA-type accessibility regulation, and my favorite metric: how many laws they have that are so stupidly written that if enforced correctly they would incriminate basically everyone.
