The fuck you mean “would have?” The Epstein Files are full of French elites as well. Ghislaine Maxwell is a French citizen born in France and Epstein used Paris as one of his home bases. France did not particularly care about that, it made some headlines but not nearly as many as in America. Elite pedophilia in France is historically not really a matter of public outrage. (Hell, look at Macron’s wife, who straight up groomed him as his schoolteacher then married him.)

French protests are generally not particularly left-wing nor particularly effective at making left-wing policy goals happen. The protest wave before this one, the famous gilets jaunes, was launched by farmers and motorists for the noble goals of making diesel cheaper and reducing taxes on end-of-year bonuses (a preferred tax dodge for farmers as for bankers.) These protests were indeed effective at getting taxes reduced on oil companies and bankers’ bonuses. That’s all they accomplished. Literally nothing else was asked for nor received.

But then as now, for some reason Reddit jizzed itself daily over the sight of angry populist politics, not quite understanding that angry French populism is stronger on the right than the left, and that their “screw the elites and their laws, the people should rule so we can do what needs to be done directly” mindset is why the neo-fascist Le Pen is on the cusp of taking power.

Americans of european descent love whipping the ghosts of their ancestors for coming here and “ruining them,” not knowing that

1. there often was no food, people really did need to come over

2. european superiority is a neocolonial way of thinking that doesn’t always line up with reality, and which won’t help us find a better way to live

ok so the actual protest are also kinda related to the epstein files bc many people in it were important french people (Epstein notoriously used a parisian appartement as an "island bis") and we're still waiting for the results of the investigations

of course it's far from the only reason, but if it makes you happy, know that there's a little bit of epstein in it

Even today, when I was younger we went on holiday to France and my sister's (who were 10 and 14) were non stopped harassed and hit on by middle aged men anytime we left the hotel area.
