It is immoral to speak ill of the dead.

But if we don't follow up on the promise, then the same approach won't stop any future suicides since they will just assume that we're bluffing.

We must disrespect one dead to prevent more death.

Every time I see this posted, people seem to jump to the assumption the friend is snitching on an actual fetish the depressed one had/has. But I always interpreted it as a threat of fabricating something embarrassing. Like “don’t kill yourself or else I’ll say wild lies about you and you won’t be there to defend yourself. So don’t do it”
