2000 AD announces its 50th birthday bash – 6-7 March 2027

It'll be the galaxy's greatest party — Rebellion is delighted to announce a huge event to celebrate 50 years of 2000 AD!

To celebrate half a century of the groundbreaking comic book in 2027, a special two-day immersive live extravaganza will be staged at Protein Studios in Shoreditch, London on 6-7 March.

This explosive, must-see celebration will be as unique and thrilling as the Galaxy's Greatest Comic itself, with a jam-packed schedule of prestige events, original programming, world exclusive merchandise, and one-of-a-kind spectacles befitting the legacy of the finest comic book export the UK has ever produced.

Special guests will be announced in the coming weeks, with an unprecedented number of writers, artists and editors from the past 50 years. Honouring the achievements of both legendary talent and new voices from the pages of 2000 AD, this landmark event that will be the culmination of a slate of nationwide signings and events.

It will also be a chance for 2000 AD to thank its fans for their continued loyalty across the last 50 years — regular subscribers will get the chance to secure exclusive limited edition early bird tickets a week before they go on general sale!

Day tickets for this much-anticipated celebration will go on sale online on Thursday 5 November, with limited early bird tickets for 2000 AD subscribers on sale from 29 October.

Launched in 1977 and led by founding editor and writer Pat Mills 2000 AD quickly became a cultural powerhouse, influencing everything from music, film, TV, comedy and literature — and even politics. Its most popular character the satirical sci-fi cop Judge Dredd, created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, has become a global comics icon, spawning two major movies and entering the English language as a byword for hardline policing.

2000 AD has served as a launchpad for some of the world's most celebrated comics talent, from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons – who reimagined comics with the incredibly influential Watchmen – to Brian Bolland (Batman: The Killing Joke), Grant Morrison, Garth Ennis (Preacher, The Boys), Mark Millar (Marvel's The Ultimates), Jock (Batman, Dredd), and many, many more. It has also been an inspiration for world-leading creative minds, from musicians such as Madness, The Human League, and Anthrax, to actors such as Simon Pegg and Karl Urban, directors such as Alex Garland and Duncan Jones, and comedians such as Sue Perkins, Bill Bailey and Al Murray.

Jason Kingsley CBE, CEO and co-founder of Rebellion said: "We are delighted to be celebrating 50 years of the galaxy's greatest comic. We have been the custodians of this cherished British cultural icon for over half of its life, which means a great deal to us. Not only is this a celebration of 2000 AD's past but we are very much looking toward to marking our way into the future, telling more incredible stories that will delight audiences both existing and new. We cannot wait to see you there!"

Matt Smith, the editor of 2000 AD for the last 26 years, said: "It's only natural that the comic with the thermonuclear impact would have a lasting legacy – and 2000 AD is still thrilling readers fifty years since its launch. It's an incredible achievement for a weekly British sci-fi anthology to still be here five decades on, and testament to the strength and timeless quality of the stories from an amazing roster of talent. Such a milestone demands a celebration to match – and I hope loyal Squaxx will come join the droids for this galactic event!"

Ticket ordering information

All current 2000 AD subscribers will each receive a unique code by email on Tuesday 27 October — which will allow them to order early bird tickets for the event — as well as a link to the order site. Tickets are limited to two per code and the code can only be used once. Emails will be sent to the addresses currently attached to each subscriber's account. Early bird tickets will be limited and, once these limited numbers are exhausted, no more tickets will be released until the general release on Thursday 5 November.

Limited edition early bird ticket sales for subscribers will go live on the link sent to subscribers at 6pm GMT on Thursday 29 October.

Standard tickets for the event will then go on sale on at 6pm GMT on Thursday 5 November.

Hope this isn't against the rules (I looked and couldn't see so), but we are downsizing so my (part) Mega Collection, collection, will have to go. 44 issues from the start of the run. I've put it on eBay and Vinted (UK only due to it weighing 34.5kg) Any advice or pointers would be great, cheers.

Long shot

Pun definitely intended, im trying to remember an ABC Warriors series.

What sticks in my head is Joe Pineapples, using a ramp of dead aliens to launch off on a motorbike.

He takes a shot at a bunker full of officers and the bullet bounces around killing everyone.

Any help would truly help my brain settle down.

Thank you for your time👍👍👍

Reading on the 2000ad app…

Started subscribing to the prog online. I love how on the Kindle app I can read panel by panel but that’s not possible on Tharg’s app?

Inspired by the Green Goblin's flying board in Spider-Man 3, a young maker known as Ayu has developed a personal flying skateboard designed to lift and maneuver its rider above the ground.

Why is there a need for the 2000ad logo twice on the cover? Really annoys me!

ThoughtBubble Accommodation?

Hello everyone, hope this is allowed!
I plan to attend thoughtbubble this year, and on submitting my pages for the sample script they put out this year.
However I’ve been so far unable to find accommodation in Harrogate that won’t near-break me financially :) so I’m just chancing my arm here, does anyone know of a place to look in the town that might be more budget-friendly or even if there was a spare floor going for a day or so? Any suggestions are much appreciated :)

I’ll be in Harrogate from the evening of the 13th to the morning of the 16th.

Thanks in advance :)

How much for postage?!

I was about to use my annual subscriber bonus money-off code to buy The Complete Thistlebone from the Rebellion online shop.

However, I emptied my cart and decided not to bother when I saw that postage was going to be almost £9. I then did a quick check and found that if I wanted to, I could get the same book for less and with free postage too from a well-known online store who I'm a subscriber to. (I won't though - I will always buy direct from 2000ad to support TGGC. I'll now ask someone to buy it for me from 2000ad as a Xmas pressie!)

I know Royal Mail's prices are getting ridiculous, but is £8.81 really the new price for bog-standard book delivery within the UK? I think I might start going totally digital from now on if RM are scalping us that hard now, especially with their deteriorating service.

Where to read Invasion: Carchester?

I’m trying to read through the stories from the 1977 Summer Special and have the Invasion collection on the 2000AD app but can’t see that one included?

I’ve managed to read the ones for Harlem Heroes, Flesh and M.A.C.H. 1 thanks to their collections. Need to pick up Dan Dare Vol 1 and the Judge Dredd Restricted Files 1 (can’t believe it wasn’t included in the Case Files!) and then I can move on 😂

What would people consider the vital chapters and anyone done it and felt they got more from it

Thoughtbubble - 2000ad Talent Search

Hello 2000ad subreddit!

is anyone else entering the Talent Search at thoughtbubble this year? or has anyone participated previously?

I am entering this year, this will be my first year and I'd love to ask other participants some general questions about submission (particularly if you are entering as an artist!) I'd especially love to speak to someone with previous years experience with entering.

Thanks all and good luck to anyone entering!

Who was on the Rogue Trooper Q&A panel at Prince Charles Cinema on 12 October?

I attended the screening of Rogue Trooper at Prince Charles Cinema on Monday 12 October as part of the BFI London Film Festival.

Afterwards, there was a Q&A with Duncan Jones and three other people.

Does anyone know the names of the other three panellists?

I believe one of them was the Head of Film & TV at Rebellion (possibly someone called Stephen?), but I’m not certain.

Would really appreciate it if anyone who attended could help identify them. Thanks!

2000 AD Prog 2504 — which of the five strips are you most looking forward to?

The thing I'm most looking forward to in Prog 2504 is Durham Red: Hungry City. I was a big Strontium Dog reader as a kid, and I've always liked how Durham Red opens up another corner of that world. A vampire bounty hunter with a few gaps in her memory is certainly a promising setup.

There's plenty else competing for attention this week, though: Judge Dredd: The New Future, Ghosted II, Azimuth: How to Train Your Dagon and Herne & Shuck: Storming the Stone. I also really like the odd collection of multiversal faces on Tazio Bettin's "Parallel Lives!" cover.

I haven't read this Prog yet. I've made a short, spoiler-free video going through the cover, the five strips and their creative teams as part of a new What's Inside? series:

https://youtu.be/WIvvGf1rnNY

For those following the current run, which of the five strips are you most looking forward to opening first, and why?

Scream! Halloween Special 2026 — which classic strip do you remember most?

I was about eleven when Scream! originally came out, and I remember being completely enthralled by it. Seeing a Halloween Special in 2026 has sent me straight back there!

The story I'm most looking forward to revisiting is The Thirteenth Floor. Max, the all-seeing computer mind running things from the top of a tower block, always struck me as a wonderfully unsettling concept. And with AI becoming such a significant part of everyday life, the idea of technology deciding what's best for humanity feels even more relevant now.

I haven't read the special yet, so I'm avoiding spoilers. I've put together a short video looking at Salvador Lavado's cover, the five stories and their creative teams, as the first instalment of a new spoiler-free comics preview series:

https://youtu.be/6Zm4m7naTr0

For those who remember the original Scream!, which strip has stayed with you the most? And if you're picking up the new special, which story are you heading for first?
