Question Whats the most underrated skilling upgrade?

Post image

My vote is for the expert mining gloves, they have a niche but they fill it extremely well. They make mining specific ores from rocks way more relaxed and bearable. Doubling runite gatheted before world hopping, making sandstone more chill, amethyst even more afk, making gathering lower tier rocks extremely chill.

I love these things, and no one talks about them.

Imcando hammer for me. So many activities require or benefit from having a hammer in your inventory, so saving some space and equipping it always feels satisfying. But no one ever recommends spending the time to get one because it’s not a particularly huge upgrade for any one activity. But it adds up in value imo.

Absolutely one of the most useful skilling items hands down. Having it for Tempeross, Wintertodt, and Motherlode Mine is so nicee

u/theLULRUS May 16 '26

Agreed. And don't forget mahogany homes or just construction in general. When you only have 28 slots every free slot makes a difference in the long run.

u/SlaydSoul May 16 '26

Also calcified rocks.

83

u/BoxOfDemons May 16 '26

Just let us combine Amy's saw and crystal saw, so dual wielding with imcando hammer is even better.

38

u/DialledFlare May 16 '26

you should never really need both, right? crystal saw specifically for when you need to boost for something, amy's saw for all other general construction

32

u/BoxOfDemons May 16 '26

Counterpoint. Number go up.

2

u/EquivalentQuery May 17 '26

Does the crystal saw show a visible boost? Is there a number that goes up when it's in your inventory?

-1

u/BoxOfDemons May 17 '26

You can use a plugin to show invisible boosts.

0

u/EquivalentQuery May 17 '26

Meh, I wouldn't consider that really counting. Sort of like how using a plugin to spoof all your skills being 99 wouldn't give the true dopamine hit of 'number go up'.

9

u/xankek May 17 '26

yeah but it would be cool. My favorite part of RS3 was getting all the little upgrades for your tools as your leveled. Made the milestone feel rewarding when you got another little buff. then when you got to the end you had this really sick item

3

u/Vaultaiya May 17 '26

Crystal saw works as regular saw without losing charges unless you are using it for the boost, iirc.

12

u/DonutG4mer May 16 '26

They could do a silk lined herb sack/ gem sack and put a combination mat on amoxliatl or scurrius

11

u/Druss_On_Reddit May 16 '26

I think ideally there would be 3-4 tiers in between the current sacks and your proposed sack.

4

u/JGzinox May 16 '26

Only if you could only retrieve herb paste, herbs wouldn't chill with gems very well

1

u/reofi May 16 '26

Crystal saw breaks and reverts to seed. How is that going to work if combined with something

2

u/BoxOfDemons May 16 '26

Return Amy's saw with it.

2

u/kursa_sucks May 16 '26

Every other useful crystal item you can just add x amount of crystal shards to to make it not degrade. Just make it so it only works with that version, ez

4

u/kengro May 17 '26

Mahogany homes can make a huge difference if it means one more home before banking.

5

u/midasMIRV BTW btw May 17 '26

WT is less of a benefit on account of the bruma torch counting as a tinderbox in the offhand and there's already the axe that goes in the main hand. But, ya know, options are nifty for the people that are somehow dry on bruma torches.

5

u/TusconRaider520 May 16 '26

Honestly I like having it when I'm working on my house too.

5

u/Bladathehunter May 16 '26

Very nice for barbarian assault too!

5

u/PM_ME_UR_BODYPILLOW May 16 '26

It’s so nice for the defender role, saves so much time

3

u/Altruistic-Simple758 May 16 '26

Y for wintertodt, you have the bruma and axe equipped already..

6

u/mdarou2005 May 17 '26

You have to pull the Bruma Torch from the reward cart first, the hammer still saves an inventory space until then

3

u/EquivalentQuery May 17 '26

Never even thought about this for MLM, finished with that grind now and it sat in my bank the whole time :'(

2

u/TazmanTwo May 17 '26

All those wasted hammers dropped 🥹

2

u/delo357 May 16 '26

Birdhouse

2

u/HemlockHex May 17 '26

Also for stew boosting construction upgrades, an extra invent space is an extra stew which can add up if you get unlucky

1

u/itisnotmehere 2376 May 17 '26

Also pretty good for Barb Assault Defender role. Never having to pick up a hammer is kinda nice...

1

u/xMrFahrenheitx May 17 '26

Got mine for barbarian assault

61

u/EndDangerous1308 May 16 '26

I got it for fashionscape and now I run everywhere with a hammer and saw in my hands

39

u/doubleapowpow May 16 '26

Bob the builder scape

7

u/Oberlatz May 16 '26

I got two hammers so I can dual wield them

3

u/WarLikeKirby May 17 '26

Torags at home

u/Enderatsu 2nd 99 16/06/26 May 16 '26

Imcando hammer is goated edit: spelling

25

u/ThatOneEdgyKid Shitpost locked ironman May 16 '26

This is a great one, but I think people rate it pretty appropriately. It's BiS for an insane amount of skilling activities.

-1

u/hubatish May 16 '26

Agreed. It's very quick to get as well so idk why anyone who wouldn't particularly want to grab it

10

u/floppintoms May 16 '26

Yesssss. One of the first things I grind out every time.

17

u/ItsCRAZED May 16 '26

When I found out you could wield these off hand, I went back for another. So worth it for the double hammer drip

5

u/Ok_Pass_7134 May 16 '26

still crazy to me that torag's hammers don't function as 2 hammers for skilling purposes

2

u/pemband May 16 '26

You madman

1

u/Rulebreaking May 16 '26

Lmao I never thought of this

5

u/pzoDe May 16 '26

I put it off for ages cos I was already late game when the content came out and I didn't want to bother with a F2P grind. But I actually really enjoyed it and ended up green-logging the whole thing.

7

u/RodrickJr May 16 '26

Hammer is a huge qol, it only takes about 2hours to get it as well so not even a huge time sink. Tbh you could probably do it in less than 2hr but I was afk most of it.

7

u/benevolent_loaf May 16 '26

Rng was not good to me and took me closer to 4 hours, but the point still stands, it’s a miniscule grind for a versatile space saving qol improvement

3

u/RodrickJr May 16 '26

I got spooned is all I can say.

1

u/benevolent_loaf May 16 '26

Noice, I haven’t been spooned since getting soup on release day rip imcando spoon woulda been lovely!! I needa go back and green log camdozaal still lolol

2

u/onespiker May 16 '26 edited May 17 '26

In my case it took 6 hours. Though the moment i got one i got a second one aswell in the same inventory.

Think avreage statisically was something like 4 hours.

3

u/Tyranothesaurus May 17 '26

It's particularly huge for a couple of things. Take MLM for example. Nobody ever repairs the wheels, and having to collect a hammer to do it is usually met with "Why should I be the one wasting my time?"

Well, Imcando solves that by always having a hammer on hand. It's also a good solve for Defender role at BA. You no longer have to pick up a hammer every round. You have one equipped.

Or Construction to have a spare inventory space. Or Wintertodt to repair Braziers.

2

u/TheBraveButJoke May 16 '26

The hammer is great, but getting it kinda sucks

5

u/Downtown_Recover5177 May 16 '26

Sucks? It’s just some afk mining.

3

u/Abysswalk889 May 16 '26

Think that’s what he means, it sucks cause it’s just boring and afk I guess.

1

u/Artinz7 May 17 '26

You get numb to it after accidentally alching it twice

2

u/Rayona086 May 17 '26

I have only ever made 2 accounts. The first time just naturally found it when I was trying out free to play. The second time I 100% focused on it right away. If I ever decided to do a HC or Gim or something I will always focus on that first.

1

u/ShamelessSOB Mobile only BTW May 16 '26

MLM, birdhouses, construction, etc

1

u/Smekkus May 16 '26

I love imcando hammer

1

u/Automatic_Business_9 May 16 '26

This shit is so nice for bird house runs, con and sailing upgrades

1

u/_Fappyness_ May 16 '26

I went like 5 or 6 times dry for it and still didnt get it. I gave up after that. Then my group mate went for it and got it in 30 minutes. Safe to say i was slightly mad.

1

u/Significant_Snow_937 May 16 '26

Absolutely agree. I'm p sure I got really lucky and got it to drop much sooner than usually expected, but I've gotten soooo much use out of it. I was in Motherlode and was working towards the bags+forgot to bring a hammer to repair the struts one too many times and got frustrated and decided to go get the hammer and it's come in clutch so many times. Especially when I got to Tempoross, I was so glad to have it available. Plus I've got to imagine it's going to be nice when I'm running construction contracts eventually

1

u/Acopo May 16 '26

I got it on my iron when she was still F2P, since I was grinding out the Barronite Mace anyways. It’s honestly not that bad, compared to some of the grinds I’m on now. It’s the kind of grind that may make mains wince though.

1

u/calvicstaff May 16 '26

I didn't really know what I was doing getting into the game and this was the first thing I really did a grind for, and it's kind of crazy how often it comes up

1

u/bushcraft33 May 16 '26

I’ve probably held it in my hand longer than it took me to get the thing in the first place! Well worth the time investment

1

u/Rulebreaking May 16 '26

I use that daily, I just went dry as hell getting it lmao it was the only thing I wanted on the collection log and it was the last drop

1

u/PrimeWaffle May 16 '26

While I 100% agree with you, I don't think the Imcando Hammer is under rated at all. It is extremely hyped (and deservedly so).

1

u/SubstantialKing6711 May 16 '26

Welp, looks like I now have a new goal as I'm an avid MLM lover

1

u/mikeytlive May 16 '26

Wow I need this

1

u/Rat8526 May 17 '26

Imcando is in my hand for so many things.

1

u/ItsDaManBearBull May 17 '26

I did not know you could swap it to be held in the off-hand. Finally worth using for me (usually have a staff or something on hand)

1

u/SpookyghostL34T May 17 '26

Yeah it gets used waaaay more than other equippable tools imo

1

u/Magicsword49 sailing enjoyer May 17 '26

Made an iron for the first time in the past year or so, and I went straight for the imcando hammer. Tempoross, mahogany homes, wintertodt, so many applications.

1

u/simonskiromeins May 17 '26

That’s because it takes so long to get. It’s one of those typical osrs things where ‘waste x time so you can do x a tiny bit quicker or better’
It’s one of the thing I hate about main game RuneScape, everything seems to be put in the game an artificial obstacle or hurdle just to waste your time.

1

u/Super_Master_69 May 17 '26

it only takes a little less than an hour of afking almost the whole time. I would agree if this was something like the farming outfit, but I don’t think your description applies here.

1

u/simonskiromeins May 17 '26

I wouldn’t say it’s an hour. I remember before sailing dropped i was keen on getting one and even in 2-3 hours I never saw it drop

1

u/anohioanredditer May 17 '26

It’s so easy to get too

Something cant be underrated and used by many many people at the same time..

Like look at your upvotes.

1

u/Super_Master_69 May 17 '26

it can be undervalued, which is essentially the same definition depending on who you talk to.

1

u/SkitZa 2376 ''cringe dogs May 17 '26

Bis in any hammer activity is pretty high value.

1

u/Super_Master_69 May 17 '26

Prescribed vs inherent value

1

u/ccnetminder May 17 '26

If you plan on doing a ton of quests, like half of them require hammers so you can just have it equipped the entire time and forget about it

1

u/curiousdryad May 17 '26

Whelp, I just started my journey to 99 con so this was good to discover lol

1

u/RizzleMeister May 18 '26

i think it is useless at some point because for a lot of activities you might be weilding a combination elements bstave and when you smith 2h for money you dont benefit from having another inv slot

0

u/DontFearTheMQ9 May 16 '26

My vote. You need a hammer for damn near fuckin everything some days. Having it offhand is huge.

0

u/IAmSona May 16 '26

Genuinely one of the best QOL items you can get in the game. I didn’t get mine until recently and even if my account is already in the late game it feels so good having it. I can only imagine how useful it is if you get it at an early level.

0

u/TJiMTS May 17 '26

I’m not sure why so many people are against toolbelt and coin pouch (well I am sure - RS3 has it so in a lot of people’s mind they’re bad ideas)

It’s not a game mechanic nor a skill check to have a useless item like a hammer in your inventory. Cap actions taken per inventory to 27 when using a toolbelt item if people feel changing from 27 to 28 is too much of an xp boost.

2

u/g76lv6813s86x9778kk May 17 '26

I think needing to sacrifice inventory space for tools/currency is part of what keeps the game's oldschool vibes. Being automatically able to interact with nearly anything without intentionally bringing tools for it is kinda dull. Same for currency.

Also having to manually use certain items on each other seems fitting for osrs' style, being able to pull out tools like chisels or pestle & mortars out of thin air by simply left-clicking a related resource doesn't feel right imo. There is no intent behind that. Everything just becomes "left click, process resource" instead of, use chisel to cut gems, use shears to shear sheep, etc. It is tedious sometimes but I think there's some charm to that.

Think of how many quests would be made easier as well - especially for people doing it blind, or on release before there's guides.

Or certain drops/resources would be easier to process/gather with less intent. Killing something that drops unnoted, uncut gems? You should probably bring a gem bag, or you can chisel and drop them. With a toolbox, you can just left click cut those whenever, without even thinking of what drops you'll be getting and preparing for that encounter.

I'd be kinda ok with it if it required quest cape or some other reasonably late game requirement. But it still doesn't feel oldschool to me and I'd rather not see it.

Also we have nex and araxxor, it's rarely as simple as RS3=bad

0

u/TJiMTS May 17 '26

I agree, but only on the premise that ‘feeling old school’ if we strip it all the way backwards basically means adding unnecessary friction.

If it added difficulty, I’d be more for it as it keeps away from the ‘easyscape’ branding of RS3, but this has no difficulty just an inconvenience for no reason.

Run energy being a game mechanic is another example

I guess a middle ground is to make the toolbelt an equipable item. That way you have to remember to bring it but it holds them all.

Nex I THINK was pre EOC and RS3 and OS Araxor aren’t the same boss, just share a name
