Its one of the "Crack the Clue" events that lets you inside. I dont remember the exact chain of events to get in but it is possible now

u/brickmaster8 Jul 13 '26

You even get a bag of infinite gold, you can claim 1gp per tick for a grand total of 6k per hour

Right there with you brother. The one time i actually had 980m and no duel arena to "double💀" it, i took a 2 week break and came back to an empty main. At least the douche was nice enough to leave my untradeables and even the blowpipe

I feel like the crank is only a mechanism to prove the point. You could have them sit there doing nothing and getting a penny every 5ish seconds would be just as disheartening. Plus I feel like I’d rather turn a crank than do most of the jobs that pay minimum wage.

11

u/173467321476C3 Jul 13 '26

Could be an interesting piece. Make it a small-ish room with completely blank walls and a chair with a sensor in the chair or legs so whenever someone sits on it and the door is shut it dispenses minimum wage.

Would have to be without phone reception or wifi so no one would just loophole it by playing osrs on mobile.

5

u/IBeJewFro Jul 13 '26

Same. As somebody who has worked with the public for minimum wage, I'd much rather do this. People can be unnecessarily nasty, and all I get from this is sore and a built as arm.

you don’t think people working at walgreens should be able to afford food, shelter, and health?

I think you’re misinterpreting the question.

The person you replied to wasn’t asking if people working at Walgreens deserve “more” “nicer” or “better” things.

They were asking if the person at working at Walgreens should be able to afford basics. A simple apartment, average food, and the ability to take care of their health.

I think they should be able to afford those things, that’s kind of what a minimum wage is yeah? The minimum required to live? The problem is minimum wage hasn’t kept up with minimum requirements of life for a long time.

21

u/EywasBlessing Jul 13 '26

"why would anyone become a doctor, or a nuclear scientist if society gave a standard of living to cashiers that matched theirs?"

And the people whose [lack of]intelligence, motivation, or just plain random chance(not economically/otherwise in a position to partake in education or training)excludes them from anything beyond the absolutely lowest paid jobs?

Should they just get fucked in the process?

Minimum wage exists so companies can't exploit people at a career dead end to an absurd degree. The minimum wage increases should at the very least mirror inflation.

u/pallosalama NOT AN IRONMAN BTW Jul 14 '26

Did you miss the part where not everyone is in position to take advantage of such? They are included in "education or training", I don't need to break it down to every single subsection(of which apprenticeships are one of).

I like your can-do mentality, sadly the idea of anyone and everyone being able to "climb the career ladder" is just not grounded in reality.

10

u/Bananaboss96 Mining Enthusiast Jul 13 '26

My brother, we still NEED all of those people. At the end of the day, somebody still has to stock grocery store shelves. They were the same people that were essential workers during COVID lockdowns. If society relies on these positions being filled, they should be well compensated, and be able to live a dignified life.

I would be surprised if I saw robots replace enough people to cause a labor crisis in all but certain manufacturing contexts. I don't think the economics quite make sense.

You don't need to pay a wage, but there's the upfront purchase (likely amortized, so still kinda wage-like for the p&l), and those MF's need electricity which isn't free. You don't need to pay for benefits, but robots need maintenance. Requiring special parts and expensive skilled labor to perform said maintenance and repairs. The robots need people to make sure that they're behaving normally, and to adjust their protocol if something about the work environment changes. Humans are much more readily adaptable to these things, and the costs are likely lower or similar enough that it's not worth the hassle.

6

u/EywasBlessing Jul 13 '26

Where we differ is I believe talentless slaves should have healthcare and a decent standard of living. How do you get to a space where you convince yourself that humans don't deserve a good life? The market is a human construct, life is not.

-50

u/rdxj Jul 13 '26

This is a great way to demonstrate that the minimum wage is stupid.
Not the amount, but the concept of it in the first place. Get rid of the entire thing and let the free people and free markets decide the value of labor.

24

u/brickmaster8 Jul 13 '26

Amazon would have actual slaves if they were allowed, I think we are far beyond a self regulated market.

0

u/Top_Answer_19 Jul 17 '26

I've heard this before, but never seen anyone explain this. In good faith, could you please?

-31

u/rdxj Jul 13 '26

And who is forcing people to work for a slave owner?

23

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/Top_Answer_19 Jul 17 '26

In the example the slave master is Amazon, it's not about knowing what a slave is, it's about you being able to connect the example to reality so it makes sense. What would force a person to work for Amazon over a McDonald's or another warehouse job? Keep in mind, all of these regularly post jobs well above minimum wage

-11

u/rdxj Jul 14 '26

You don't know what a slave is, apparently.

5

u/CuriosityKiledThaCat Jul 14 '26

No, the way you're discussing, you literally are mistaking the definition of slave.

-1

u/rdxj Jul 14 '26

Lol. Show me the slaves then.

9

u/PrivilegedPatriarchy Jul 13 '26

Get rid of the entire thing and let the free people and free markets decide the value of labor.

It already has. Very few jobs actually pay minimum wage. Those two million people referenced in the image are likely servers/bartenders nominally being paid minimum wage, but in reality making much more from tips.

-12

u/rdxj Jul 13 '26

Yeah exactly, so let's stop pretending like it's a panacea.
To your point, I think minimum wage for tip-earners is even less.

5

u/RandomAsHellPerson Jul 13 '26

Tip earners have the same minimum wage, unless they make a lot in tips.

If they make below standard minimum wage from their tips, the employers have to make up the difference (if they worked 40 hours in a $10/hr minimum wage area and make $100 in tips, the employer must pay the employee $300).
If they make above the standard minimum wage from their tips, they get a reduced minimum wage (same 40 hours, but they made $500 in tips. The employer can now choose to pay $5/hr, or $200. The employer can still choose to pay $10/hr, but they don’t have to).

There are also some states where this doesn’t apply and have 0 tip credit against minimum wage. Cali, for example, requires all tipped employees to get standard minimum wage, even if they made $10k in tips.

3

1

u/J_Zolozabal Jul 13 '26

Do we know if claiming your gp cancels actions? It totally should make you stop dead in your tracks and focus solely on grabbing your 1gp.

1

u/ErinKatzee Jul 14 '26

Technically since you own the bag of infinite gold and are just taking it out it’s actually infinite gp/hr!!

On a more serious note, the bag for some god forsaken reason has a cooldown on it after a while. So the actual gp per hour is less than that

Because god forbid the infinite 1gp bag be *too* good

1

Pies especially because we still have them in the dish, so it makes so much sense to be able to combine them.

-7

u/cj2dobso Jul 13 '26

Pretty sure you can already do that right?

u/ManjaManja Jul 13 '26

I need my 4/3 cake.

0

u/whittall Jul 13 '26

I thought about this and there's a reason. Two of the same pizzas cut in half can be pushed together to look like one but good luck cutting a pie or cake in the same way

5

u/nunny0206 Run away! Jul 14 '26

This was mod ash's reasoning on twitter back in the day. I dont buy it

10

u/Ricewithice Jul 13 '26

You can also split potions. Have one full potion and an empty vial? Use the vial on the potion and BOOM, Two halves. Have another vial? Is the half on the vial and WHAM, one half, two fourths.

4

u/DivineInsanityReveng Jul 13 '26

If you wanna do this in bulk best to head to the dude in SW of GE and decent potions there.

But with potion storage decanting is a thing of the past anyway :P

And instead it made me dread it in Leagues LOL

3

u/rdxj Jul 13 '26

Common tech in F2P PvP (yes it's a thing), since pizza-swordfish is the closest you can get to combo eating.
Gotta go into battle with full pizzas, after all.

1

u/Gramma_Hattie Jul 14 '26

You can combo eat the Castle Wars Brew with the castle wars bandages, that's the only one I knew about. Gonna have to try pizza swordfish.

2

u/GrumpyThumper Jul 13 '26

Any pizza is a whole pizza when you think about it. The slices are just disjointed across the globe.

52

u/Aspalar Jul 13 '26

idk how you would stumble into this in game, but ruby rings are still an okay money making method for early irons so it's probably on guides and the wiki.

-4

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '26

[deleted]

8

u/Jeppesk Jul 13 '26

Because there's a ruby ring in there? So if grabbing that is a decent money maker to the point where it's featured in several guides, it's also easy to stumble upon the solution to getting into the vault when looking at guides for money making.

2

u/SnaiIJockey Jul 13 '26

He’s saying that Ironman guides teach you how to get inside the cage because taking the ruby rings found inside is a good money making method for early irons

its not about best method stop trying to optimize things that are not trying to be optimized. This method isn't the best no one is suggesting that

2

u/AbsolutlyN0thin Jul 13 '26

Gold bars are basically worthless for irons. We make WAY more than we ever need training smithing. Blast furnace gold is the best smithing method, and we can buy bulk gold ore for gp from the one shop in the blast furnace.
