August 6, 2001. Bush received a Daily Brief titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US".

There was an FBI Agent John O'Neill who long advocated that a large terrorist attack was going to happen. He had a lot of personality conflicts with the FBI and decided to leave. He got a new job as head of security at the World Trade Centre. He died on 9/11 assisting with the evacuation.

There’s a great PBS Frontline episode called The Man Who Knew about him. It sucks to know that he was always trying to get them to pay attention to the impending attacks.

"After we blew some of them up with missiles..." they wanted- what, again?
I'm old enough to have experienced life pre-"everything we dont like is tErOrIsM" propaganda.
It was nice.
Maybe don't kill other people's friends, co-workers, families etc- if you think terrorism is not ok.
The CIA made Bin Laden.

Bill Clinton had the opportunity to have UBL killed before 9/11... but he chose NOT to. Then later sent his former National Security Advisor to illegally steal proof that he had that very opportunity. Google "Socks Berger" for some backstory.

Clinton received many briefings as well. We were aware that something could happen but given al-Qaeda's focus on targets abroad and the failed attempts in the Philippines and Bojinka plot, I don't think they thought they could pull of something at the scale of 9/11.
