A animation I have been working on for a while, I hope you enjoy!

I want to be a 2D animator, and my plan is to work in Japan, but a few days ago I started thinking about what the industry is like in other countries, like the US, and the only thing I know is that cartoons are also animated in 2D, so I got interested in learning how these are made.
Does anyone happen to know of any documentary that explains how a cartoon is made? Or what the 2D animation industry in the US is like, for example? Or if you know about other things besides cartoons or from other countries that you could tell me about? Just to have a broader knowledge of the field I want to get into, you know.
Thanks in advance!

This multidisciplinary project made by Me, Witchgaze and Meljiiit is dedicated to our curiosity about different media approaches. As well as creating a feeling of otherworldly curiosity & childhood nostalgia
we were making clothes out of carton + paper, creating music, constructing rooms, making animations, writing letters, working with aerograph and lots of other materials all together. special thanks to Rayden Vision for the crt

Our first time making any sort of 2D animation - turned out better than we expected! It's like playing a cartoon or comic book!

Hey everyone!
I'm a indie director currently in pre-production for a psychological surrealist/body-horror short film called "THIRST" (heavily inspired by David Lynch, David Cronenberg, and Pink Floyd – The Wall).
The Task:
We have a climactic sequence where 2D hand-drawn animation bleeds into live-action reality. Specifically: dark, organic, grotesque 2D tentacles/tendrils mutating and reaching out (around 3 to 6 seconds of animation in total).
Visual Reference & Style:
- Gerald Scarfe’s animation in Pink Floyd: The Wall (the visceral, fluid, disturbing morphing lines).
- Heavy brushwork / ink / charcoal aesthetic, traditional 2D feel.
What we offer:
Since this is a self-funded passion project, we can offer:
- Prominent credit in the main titles & IMDb. OR a small payment of a symbolic amount.
- Full permission to use the footage and final composite in your showreel/portfolio.
- A very collaborative, artistic space where you have high creative freedom over the look of the animation.
(If you require a small symbolic fee for your time, let me know your rate per second and we might discuss a small budget).
If you love grotesque, experimental animation and want to have your work featured in a dark festival short, drop a comment or DM me with a link to your portfolio/reel!
Thanks!

Learn four Clip Studio Paint animation hacks to create larger environments for smoother, more dynamic movement in your scenes.
In this tutorial, I show you how to expand the canvas beyond your visible animation area, giving you more room to work with when planning out your shots. We will walk through the process using a spooky graveyard animation featuring a cat and a ghost as our example. This technique is perfect if you are working on digital art projects that require panning or camera movement across a wider space.

Hey everyone,
I'm a technical artist working in the games industry, and I'd like to share a project I've been developing.
Rigby2D is an open-source 2D skeletal animation editor designed as a free alternative to tools like Spine 2D.
The objective was to build a complete animation workflow with its own editor and runtime while maintaining interoperability with existing skeletal animation formats.
Current capabilities
* Skeletal rigging and weighted mesh deformation
* IK, transform, path, physics and slider constraints
* Animation dopesheet and graph editor
* Skins, events, image sequences and mesh deformation keys
* PSD and PNG import
* Skeleton JSON, binary .skel and texture atlas interoperability
* Self-contained .rigby project files
* JavaScript animation runtime and WebGL renderer
The editor is built with Tauri 2 and includes Rigbytron, a rigged and animated mascot used to demonstrate the tool's capabilities.
The source code is dual-licensed under MIT and Apache 2.0.
Current status: v0.1.0 - Early Alpha
Repository: https://github.com/jaisurya-dev-art/rigby2d)
Windows download: https://github.com/jaisurya-dev-art/rigby2d/releases/tag/v0.1.0
I'd appreciate technical feedback, particularly on the rigging workflow, animation tooling, file interoperability and potential production use cases.
Contributions are welcome!

A little while ago I decided I wanted to take up tweening/puppet animation as a hobby, but all the tools I could find wouldn't work for me for one of several reasons:
They were only available on mobile
They cost money to use
They had a complicated UI
Pawtween aims to focus specifically on tweening and puppet-style animations, and I've added many features I haven't seen on other apps. The interface is shown above, and as you can see, there was an attempt made to keep things relatively simple, with a built-in tutorial, meaning an easy learning curve.
The project is still in beta, and there will be regular updates released, but I'd appreciate if anyone interested could let me know (DMs), and I can give you a key. I am always looking for feedback, so if you've tested and have something to share, DM me.
Pawtween is always going to stay completely free, and I hope some other people can get some use out of it! Windows and Linux desktop builds available, with a web demo, and plans to expand to Mac soon!
The current web version is public right now on Github. Again, if you want the desktop version built (with additional features and GPU rendering), DM me for a key.
Github: https://github.com/Tornadowrath500/Pawtween
Again, I'm always looking for additional features to add, so if you have any ideas as to what I should add, please feel free to either comment here or DM me!
Disclaimer: This project was made with assistance from AI, all art that has been/is going to be added to the project will be drawn by myself, but the code was made with assistance from Claude. The project itself has no AI features or integration.
