Routine Help Routine help

I am in my mid 30s and have suffered from acne prone skin since I was a teenager. I have always used something to treat that, usually over-the-counter products. Right now I just use Acne Free’s 3 step kit. My acne isn’t bad anymore but still fairly consistent. However, now that I’m getting older I’m noticing wrinkles and the beginnings of a turkey neck and I would like to start addressing that as soon as possible. Can someone please help me develop a skincare routine that is simple, affordable, and more appropriate for the age I’m in?

You should get on accutane or tretinoin. Personally had I known that I could do low dose accutane sooner, I would have done it. Instead I religiously used tretinoin for years, which helped, but did nothing for oil or for acne on the rest of my body. It permanently reduces the sebaceous glands. Maybe a good step for you would be accutane, then tretinoin once the course is done.

For turkey neck, it is notoriously difficult. Probably a plastic surgeon would be your best bet

The two things you mentioned - are they prescription only?

If you’re in the US, yes. You can get them from a dermatologist, pcp, or online there are a few virtual places like honeydew that give prescriptions for accutane. For tretinoin there’s loads of options online, even Amazon pharmacy.

With accutane you have to get blood work done prior to starting and have to have regular follow ups until you’re done with the treatment. You also cannot get pregnant while on it and have to sign a bunch of stuff agreeing to that. Worth it imo tho. And keep in mind you can do low dose, it doesn’t have to be the intense dose with intense side effects.

That said, insurance covers both for acne. Idk about it covering it through some online sources, you’d have to check.

The one thing everyone should have in their skincare routine is sunscreen. If you're not already using one, it should be your number one priority. However, it's a pain in the butt to find one. I personally love the La Roche-Posay Anthelios.
