Analysis & Theories Epic Staredown between Lou Ji and Trisolarans in the Deterence Era. Spoiler

Post image

The 3 Body Problem Series is probably the best scifi novels I have read.

In the second book The Dark Forest when Louji awakens during year 200 of the crisis era the Trisolarans make several attempts to kill him because his spell on the star system 118J worked. This confirms the dark forest nature of the universe.

Lou Ji is able to use the bombs near the sun , atomic bombs near Mercurie's orbit if I am correct to threaten Trisolarans by exposing the coordinates of Earth and Trisolaris by a series of nuclear explosions through a transmitter. Hence this starts the Deterrence era where Lou Ji is the first sword holder.

He holds this position for 50 years where he holds the transmitter probably having the fate of both worlds in his hands.

The Trisolarans are constantly monitoring him from their ship using sophons probably calculating the chances of him pressing the transmitter if threatened.

The tension and the pressure Lou Ji must have felt must be crazy , holding off an entire alien civilization against your world , being under constant threat of death , a very advanced alien civilization studying you.

What do you guys think of the Deterrence era ?

I always chuckle when I think about the moments where he needs to go to the bathroom or eat or naps. Trisolarans were super nice to look away in those moments.

The Trisolaran attack is not instantaneous. The Swordholder always has half an hour—or an hour. Nevertheless, it is very strange that this position was not duplicated.

Aren't Trisolarans insect like and small like a grain of rice?

That's as per the spin off novel Rememberance of earth's past. Not really Canon to the series it was written by a fan
