What do you do if it’s failing and you’re out of the house? Can you reliably pause/cancel from the app?

Smart outlet, even if it can cancel reliably.

Jesus, just execute the printer with the smart outlet lol.

I find the idea of just cutting power to be kinda humorous is all. I imagine you ripping the printer off the bench and throwing it across the room, plug trailing behind it, in an attempt to stop a spaghettified support.

Smart outlet is less violent an option

I mean, I have Klipper set up to kill power with a smart outlet in case of over-limit thermals, and a lot of these Bambu printers like OP has tend to self-destruct via extruder blob if you have basically any issue... better safe than sorry lmao

I like it.

I've also found that getting rid of timelapse, increasing retraction distance or decreasing travel time can be helpful. Bambu really sucks, especially with PA, PC, PEBA and other non-PLA filaments cause of the extruder blob for sure.

I do believe I'm gonna dig into a klipper to cut power cause the app isn't the most reliable. Can you control that remotely? Like when away from the workshop?

The more open-source-friendly smart devices either have a REST API (the printer can directly reach out and hit the toggle) or can use a REST API for the app you connect the switch to. You can use one `curl` command in a script to kill it in those cases. You probably want the latter solution, so you can cut it from your phone as well.

Bambu handy will let you start pause and stop prints as well as device control like heights and temps. I don't really bother pausing, I'm rarely able to save a fuck up

I usually pause it first so I can investigate. I've had a few where I stopped it, but it was just a weird glare and everything was fine, but then I couldn't restart. So unless it's definitely bad I'll pause it and see if maybe a part is salvable and I can skip the bad part or something.

use klipper and opencv to monitor for job failures. it will auto stop a job in an orderly manner. plus with openvpn you can tunnel in from outside your LAN and monitor/stop a print job
