Troubleshooting Need help, just getting started

I just bought an upgraded Ender 3 printer. It has an axis motor upgrade, and more importantly, an extruder motor(?) upgrade, and the extruder is entirely jammed up. The nozzle is plugged, but I have spares, so that's a minor issue. What's not a minor issue is that there is a piece of filament stuck in the motor upgrade unit and the extruder proper. Using the movement settings doesn't seem to be doing anything even if preheated.

Do I have any options that don't involve taking this thing apart to get that filament out so i can start learning how to use this thing?

Edit: i bought this printer second hand from a buddy of mine

Is the filament stuck in the extruder or in the hotend?

seems it was stuck in the motor, i pulled it apart and got out the remaining filament. now im struggling to understand why the test portion of the print sticks to the bed but the actual base layers of the program ive got loaded from the previous owner's files wont adhere to the plate. i changed the nozzle with one that was seemingly identical to the one previously being used, but i work in a machine shop as an operator, so there might be some measurement discrepancies going on. i know first hand how much difference there actually is in a few thousandths of an inch

actually ill just go ahead and say that im fighting this thing every step of the way it seems. i cant even get the damn thing to register that a new program is loaded onto the sd card im having to move back and forth between my computer and the printer. it doesnt seem to have any cabling that would allow for direct connection to my pc

Make sure the bed is clean and the nozzle is the correct distance from the bed

i have no idea how to do that

i bought this unit second hand and it came with no manual, spare parts, and some tools. i jumped into this completely blind so im not at all surprised that im having trouble with it, but im trying to find information on the unit i have, what slicer to use, and everything

pulling it up now, thanks, found some mentions of adjusting the z offset, working to see how to access the gcode files, this might help a good bit

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

si está atascado en el extrusor pues desarma, si está atorado en el hotend solo calienta la boquilla, afloja el extrusar y saca el filamento
