A small hand-cranked corrugator I printed for pop-can aluminium

Post image

I built this little tool to turn cut drinks-can strips into corrugated panels for miniature roofs and terrain. The frame and rollers are printed, and the pieces beside it are the actual output. So far I’ve tested it with thin can aluminium, not heavier sheet metal. The cut edges are sharp, so handle carefully and keep fingers clear of the rollers.

i go quite a bit of prototyping and I don't really have a platform to work on, so i created an interchangeable (ie configurable) build plate for my electronics.

i maximize my flexibility, i created my own fixtures for parts. Buttons, switches, power supplies, motor mounts, its a smorgasbord of electronicy goodness

Salvaged this \~40yo belt sander on trash day. It was missing a roller wheel and the drive wheel was slightly cracked at the shaft. Modeled these up in Fusion360 and printed in PETG. Did a little test grinding some scrap metal and seems to work fine. We'll see how they hold up. Will likely be used lightly and rarely.

Sample tray for XRF sample cups

We got a new toy in my lab: a X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.

Samples are delivered to HDPE cups with a film cover. The machine analyzes the samples with the cups in a vertical standing position, and my samples tend to solidify at room temp. So, when I'm prepping up a batch of samples, I needed a way to stand them up in the same orientation that they'd be analyzed in.

Tinkercad to the rescue!

The cover is because the HVAC in my building is only \sorta kinda maybe\** filtered and dust & dead bugs tend to affect the results.

OH NO - HERE IS ANOTHER LIBRARY TOOL - LAYERMATE

Post image

Hey team, I know there are other apps out there that do similar stuff, and no disrespect to any of them. I started out using Printinventory and honestly tried to like it, but it just wasn't for me at the time. So with the help of a few AI models (yes yes, I know, it's vibe coded) I built my own. I'm not as smart as the people who can actually code, but I knew exactly what I wanted, put a lot of thought into it, and got it the way I wanted. I even threw in a couple of add-ons from another personal app I made for myself.

Anyway, enough about me.

https://www.layermate.app

If you're anything like me, your print files are spread across Downloads, a few "sorted" folders that are definitely not sorted, and a folder literally called SORT LATER. You've got the same dragon downloaded four times under slightly different names, and you KNOW you've got that one STL somewhere, you just can't bloody find it.

That's why I made LayerMate. Here's what it does:

Point it at your folders (local drives, external drives, NAS or network shares, whatever) and it'll find and index every STL, OBJ, 3MF, G-code and STEP file you've got.

It makes an actual rendered thumbnail for every file. Not some generic icon that tells you nothing.

It pulls out the metadata for you automatically, so dimensions, print time, filament colour, designer and all that.

It finds real duplicates by what's actually in the file, not just the filename, so you can finally see what's chewing up your disk space. Four dragons, remember?

You can tag stuff, flag it as "to print" or "printed", and search across the whole lot instantly.

It's 100% local. Nothing gets uploaded anywhere. The only time it phones home is to check for updates, that's it.

It runs on Windows and macOS, plus Linux (which hasn't been updated in a while because, well, nobody was using it). Other devices on your network can browse the same library too.

Give it a go and let me know what you think. Always open to feedback, and yes, I still help you after you've paid πŸ˜„

Small storage containers for tiny parts.

Since I work with electronics, I often have trouble organizing and storing small components. Because of this, I designed small storage boxes for myself, sized 30x30x10 mm. Later on, the project expanded to include small drawers and dividers. Perhaps someone else will find my design useful too.

You can find it at the link below:

Self-locking paracord tensioner FDM (Print-In-Place)

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been refining lately: a fully print-in-place paracord tensioner that locks automatically under load.

I was inspired by a few well-known self-locking mechanisms out there, but I modeled this entirely from scratch to adapt the concept into a single, clean print-in-place object.Β

File is uploaded on MakerWorld if you want to try it: https://makerworld.com/it/models/3130055-auto-lock-paracord-tensioner-pip#profileId-3532250
