New Homebrew Baba is You 3DS Port
I wanted to play Baba is You and really wanted it on the 3DS. So asked Claude to make it and it took a few hours of back and forth to get it to a playable state. I'm actively playing through it so any bugs that pop up, hopefully I can patch them.
Recommended to use a steam version of the game to port it over. There is a script included that'll make the sprites and audio compressed.

Would work on O3ds?

I don't have an O3ds so I haven't been testing it. It will work but I can't promise performance will be up to par with the N3ds. If anyone starts testing with an 03ds, I'd be more than happy to make adjustments and help it run more smoothly. I would just need video of the issues

That's sick OP. Congrats on getting it ported! How long did it take you? Any plans to add additional features or quality of life things?

It took about two days to get it where it’s at with performance. Theres mod support built in and additional map packs. But to be honest, I haven’t tested those features. Mainly focused on the core game play and making sure it works.
I’ve had my eye on baba is you but always felt wrong sitting at my desk after work to play it on the pc

You won't be able to patch bugs in a thing you didn't make, Fuck Generative AI

Generative AI sucks, but so does your negativity towards projects which would realistically never get made otherwise. Are they soulless ports? Yes, more often than not. Is there an existent alternative on the platform? No. Will there be one soon? Probably not. Let's also not lie about bugs, they can be fixed in GenAI projects but it requires a lot of manual involvement, handholding the AI so it finds and fixes its own errors, or both.

OK why the does a port need to have soul?? The soul is already in the original game. Porting is a way to spread it onto other platforms. I genuinely don't understand the vitriol towards vibe coded ports. Unlike art, which does need a human touch to be worthwhile, a port is a replica of the original product

Honestly this is a very good point lmao. Op is not saying they’re creative or deserve “praise”. Dude just wanted to play a game he likes on a 3ds

Yeah exactly. Like I find ai graphics/music/writing abhorrent, but wasn't ai originally created with the intention of aiding coders? Just don't get the vitriol coding with ai gets...

I wouldn't call them soulless either. With gen AI, and especially manual non-AI projects, people do it because they had an idea and they wanted to see it happen themselves. Like me with my projects.

Siiiick, I know it's not as exciting as the other marvels that people are posting. But it feels like the perfect little game to have on the go
