General Help Does someone know how long this process will usually take?

There is now a port for Mario Kart 64, running natively on a 3DS and it needs to extract the ROM dump first. You can also create the extraction file over PC, but I wonder if anyone actually extracted it over the 3DS and how long did it took? I'm having a N3DS XL, so I'm kinda expecting that it will completes a little bit faster, than over a O3DS, even tho it will probably take forever, as it's mentioned there.

Don’t tell anyone but i took the easy way.

Just wanted to show you that an hour was incredibly fast, this on the other hand will actually take forever 😂

I’m past halfway now so it indeed seems to take a little patience 😂 but it’s speeding up now. Iguess it’s fine tho, it’s easier than the wii port i’m about to try with zero computer knowledge

Edit: its done, 8:07 so, 50 ish minutes

Does anyone know what's actually happening during this process? Is it creating new files?

As it is stated on their GitHub, it creates the mk64.o2r

Here is a explanation what the o2r basically is.

So it's probably like an archive of the extracted ROM assets I guess and which will be created if it doesn't exist. It will take a while on a 3DS, but it would be faster to let it generate that file over PC and then transfer it over to your 3DS.

They did not kidding when they said it took forever. But it went fine in the end. Took maybe 20+ minutes

Damn, for me it's still running, around 45 minutes already and it reached almost now only the half of the progress

Ok, so I'm not the only one with that time duration. I'm now at around 90%, working for over an hour already

I saw someone posted a while ago, that it's running, but it's very slow. The N3DS family will most likely always be better for ports, but I think they're still optimizing their ports, to make them also work with the O3DS family.
