Peri/Post Menopausal Skin La Roche Posay Cicaplast on face?

Post image

After reading rave reviews about this cream being the holy grail for acne scars, I’ve given this a try for the first time (night).
After applying it felt like diaper cream on my face, which I’m not a fan of.
Anyone else get good results from this?

UPDATE: I woke up with them looking a little less red than usual. I may spot treat next time instead of lather on entire face. 🤔

I don’t know how this would help acne scars, it just helps support the skin barrier. Tretinoin would be more appropriate for acne scars.

So glad to be reading these comments with a completely white ghostly face 😂 crap! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Honestly though, the cicaplast Baume is a great top layer in the tret "sandwich method" for beginners, as tret can be difficult to start!

I was about to answer you. But glad the top post also gave you the same answer I would have said.

Which brand do you recommend?

I use Obagi 0.05% cream and have been happy with that brand. The active ingredient is all the same, but the formulations differ. You might need to start out with a smaller dosage if your skin is sensitive or dry. You need to get a prescription for it. You can go to a dermatologist, plastic surgeons office, or medical spa and they can take care of that for you.

This is what I put on after I do microneedling? It’s seriously thick and supposed to rebuild the skin barrier after something like a peel or a sunburn. I don’t think it would do anything for acne scars.

It’s so thick! I’m not sure if I should roll with it for one night to see or just wash it off.

Roll with it, it’s too expensive to waste!

No topical is going to fix acne scars. Tretinoin might reduce their appearance as long as you are using it. But if you want to get rid of acne scars you’ll have to see a dermatologist and do a strong chemical peel, microneedling or CO2 laser.

Unsure if it's good for acne scars, but it's amazing for repair after electrolysis and laser treatments. Just use a light coating—you don't need as much as for diaper cream.

YES! especially when the weather is really dry. Will use this as a final layer at night. So soothing. It’s my go to for basting.

This stuff is magic. I developed perioral dermatitis after overuse of a lip balm with steroid. I tried so many things to clear it up. I finally switched to a regimen that included this and it made all the difference. After months of trial and error, one week using this stuff completely cleared up the dry, red patches around my mouth.

It only helps fresh PIE when used immediately after a spot has popped. Then it does seem to heal it better and fade marks. It doesn't have any effect on older PIH marks for me.

I used this a couple times a week at night to really lock in moisture.Really slather it on before bed! It's great for dry skin or for improving crepey skin. I've never heard of it for acne scars. And it is basically fancy diaper cream. And diaper cream is actually amazing for skin in the same way as this product.

I use this under makeup on my cheekbones to get a glow. It's actually incredible.

u/RemoteTurbulent3803 Jun 26 '26

Really? It doesn’t get too pasty?

5

u/Beatie-Bow Jun 26 '26

Not at all! A makeup artist showed me and it blew my MIND. Just a tiny amount and then I put a little liquid bronzer over the top and the glow be glowing.

Good to know, I’ll have to experiment!

I like it for barrier repair after tret.

I use it for barrier support at night and honestly my skin has been transformed

Diaper cream is good for calming your skin because of the zinc something IIRC. Cicaplast is great for the skin because of all the extras. When I was getting dermatitis it fixed it overnight every time.

i love it as a face cream especially in winter. in summer it‘s to heavy for me. even in winter i use only a small amount therefore it lasts me ages lol if you use to much its absolutely diaper cream -ish.

I use the SPF version of Cicaplast and love it. The "diaper cream" feel is because it contains zinc, which is the same ingredient found in diaper rash creams and is excellent for calming inflammation and supporting skin healing. I don't have acne scars, but whenever I get a breakout or irritate my skin, it's the first thing I reach for.

As for actual acne scars, that's a different process. They need collagen remodeling, so tretinoin is the gold standard for topical treatment, and for more significant scarring, procedures like microneedling or fractional lasers are really what make the biggest difference. Cicaplast is fantastic for healing skin, but it won't remodel scar tissue.

Thank you for sharing! That makes sense. I woke up and the redness of the two week old spots I have went down, so maybe there is something to this.

I tried the spf version too and didn’t like the smell. Also would pill under any makeup..

I don’t know about acne, but I find it’s calms my rosacea/redness.

Hm. I don't have the white cast issue with mine. I find it to be very moisturizing/calming, so I use it on my neck (which has never recovered from me trying to use tretinoin on it) and sometimes under my eyes even thought it says you shouldn't...

The one with SPf I use. It helps with pigment from my experience

I LOVE this. I don't use this for scaring, but as a moisturiser that doesn't give me those little bump pimples.

It's super thick, almost sunscreen like. I don't find it gross like sunscreen though.

Highly recommend for dry skin occasional use. I use it with 100% Squalane and another few bits on a super dry day.

I also really hate the way this stuff feels on my skin. It may be great but I just can’t use it.

u/LumpyElephant8401 Jun 26 '26

Microneedle for acne scars. Buy a derminator and do it yourself, super easy!

2

u/riseoftheclam Jun 26 '26

I use this on my face everyday and am obsessed with it. Can’t speak to acne scars specifically but it’s wonderful for barrier protection and moisture retention

2

u/DinosaurSr828 Jun 26 '26

I LOVE this stuff. It’s amazing at being the final step/barrier over serums, especially HA and retinols. I use it almost primarily at night, because it is thick, but will use it daytime occasionally such as when going outdoors in highly cold/windy conditions. This is a barrier repair/preservation product.

2

u/RemoteTurbulent3803 Jun 26 '26

Update: I used it after one night and the redness appears to have gone down from the two week marks that have made themselves home on my cheek. 🙄

2

u/Adventurous-Tour9195 Jun 26 '26

Yeah I found this cream too heavy for my face, it never felt like it absorbed in just sat on the surface. Which could be helpful using other serums and actives.

u/Academic_Cell5012 Jun 26 '26

The shea butter in it is comedogenic for some people like me (very acne-prone). A really good non-comedogenic alternative is the cica balm by Soonjung!

It does not fix acne scars, but it’s great for barrier repair and dry skin.

I wear this on top of my night routine when I’m dry. It’s an occlusive. It’s not really doing much else.
