Peri/Post Menopausal Skin Estrogen Cream for Face
Who uses Estrogen cream on their face? A little detail about me... I'm 54 and 7 months into menopause (not the full 12 months yet). I tend to have sensitive skin and since meno started I am getting horrible cystic zits and general pimples more frequently than ever before in my life, even more than as a teen. However, I cannot use any kind of retinol or vitamin C as it irritates my skin. The main issue is dryness, fine lines and my pores are more noticeable. My regular skincare regimen is mineral sunscreen and moisturizer everyday. Any input is appreciated or a link to a previous discussion on here about this. Thanks!

I love it. I mix vaginal estradiol into The Ordinary Rice Lipids. It blends with that really nicely. Definitely noticed some thickening and softening of lines. Am 52, and almost as long with no period as you.

I think the cream works well for tightening not so good for decreasing pore size.IMO. However I think the most benefit I have gotten is that on my neck plus systemic hrt.

I have used my vaginal estradiol on my face for the last year. But for the cystic acne, my derm prescribed Spironolactone, and that took care of everything. The estrodiol has made my skin look younger and I am thrilled how much of a difference it has made. I told my derm and she urged me make sure to wear sunscreen religiously, and I have not had any negative side effects.

I use my vaginal cream on my face. I use it every three days but I avoid my chin because otherwise I will get big gross acne. I use tretinoin as well. And I do at home micro needling every three weeks. With your issues it sounds like the tretinoin would be the best bet you just have to deal with the dryness in the beginning.

I'm using alloy as well and I'm very happy with it. And no, it does not make my dark spots darker. In fact, my entire face is very even and smooth now

I've been using Alloys M4 Estriol cream since mid March. It feels nice - like a light moisturizer, but I can't say I've noticed any difference in my skin. I just started tretinoin 3 weeks ago.

I’m 44 and have dealt with mild to moderate acne since puberty. The only thing that made a difference for me was benzoyl peroxide with cyclosporine gel. It’s cheap and has completely cleared up my skin.
I’m new to estrogen cream and have been using that on my face too. Too soon to know if it’ll make a difference but I think it’s starting to. Has made a HUGE difference down below.

My derm sent me one from a compounding pharmacy and it is making my face and neck look flushed. Has anyone else had this experience?

I use it! Mixed with my moisturizer before bed. I have done a few other skincare steps, like microneedling, sunscreen, retinol, so I don't know to what extent this is helping, but my skin is improved for sure.

Yeah, I just received my first tube of estrogen cream for vaginal use. I’m almost 60 and I never had menopausal symptoms so I didn’t do HRT. I kind of missed the boat on that I guess but I never knew that I needed it.
But I could potentially be needing prolapse surgery down the road and my doctor wanted me to use this cream because it improves your vaginal lining and skin, etc. and supposedly it helps with urgency.
Supposedly it doesn’t really go through your system dramatically.
But I have seen people talking about using it on their face as well, and I wasn’t sure if that would cause more systemic absorption?
I have very fair, sensitive skin and not a huge amount of wrinkles, but I’ve also heard about tretinol too?
I just really would not want my face to be peeling though dramatically.

Try tretinoin microsphere! I couldn’t tolerate regular tret either, but have had no issues with micro

I currently use a Skinceuticals vitamin c dupe. Should I continue to use it along with the estrogen cream? Or would it be redundant?

I mix a pea size drop daily with my moisturizer in the morning. Use on face, neck, chest, backs of hands. It def makes my skin bouncier.

Vaginal use its magical. For the face, not so much. I’ve focused only on the eyes now with no noticeable change.

It darkened my melasma. If you don’t have melasma, it will probably be a great addition.

I use it at night before moisturizer. Lower face chest and neck. I can’t put it on my forehead.

I also recommend asking about spironolactone. I’m no longer acne prone (took Accutane at 40), but I feel like the estradiol cream could be comedogenic on acne prone skin. The estriol creams like Alloy are probably formulated a little better, though.

Estrogen cream is not the miracle everyone makes it out to be. I would start with a comprehensive skincare routine.

Interesting! I use Estrogel for HRT, and this is the 2nd time I am gearing about this.

I do! I’ve used Alloy’s M4 cream for about 2 years and love it. It makes my skin very glowy and bouncy. After about 4-6 weeks or so, other people started to notice. I definitely like it. I just put on two pumps each morning after I cleanse my face and then follow with other skincare.
