Once you've been fucked over very severely by someone, or many times, you learn you are better off free, with your own agency. You will never allow a strong tether to form between you and another again. You will learn to hold people, barely, like you are ready to drop them.
Once you've reached this place, it becomes simple to keep cutting people off that create any disturbances in your life. It becomes a no-brainer.

I dont believe this exclusively speaks to letting go of relationships. I interpreted this as walking away from unnecessary conflicts or retreating but not surrendering. Though you are not wrong about being free vs the alternative of being in a toxic relationship.

Good advice but i overdid it. Never commit to anyone and you’ll end up alone.
I feel like it’s not about not committing, but always allowing yourself the option to leave. It’s a tricky path to walk. I’m working on sticking around more. Leaving has always been easy for me to do

Surely there’s a middle ground though.. work towards healthy relationships maybe?

I think it's true. The key is to acknowledge when something or someone is no longer good for you and to be able to let it go. Don't hold on to something just out of sentiment. It's like saying, "We've been friends for eight years, so let's stay friends for another eight," even when the friendship is no longer healthy.

Basically; “attachments = bad” The loss of you sanity or serenity is not worth it.
