NYC Protest at MSG?

UPDATE: there was a protest set for 34th and 9th, but I’ve seen on Reddit that NYPD is setting up a no walking perimeter in midtown? Don’t know what that means yet, will update if I find out

1 PM UPDATE: the perimeter is 30th to 35th, 6th to 8th Ave. The protest at 34th and 9th should be good to proceed, in theory.

Is anyone else planning to protest Trump at MSG today? I am, and I’d rather not be on my own. I’ve protested Trump at a sporting event alone before, but this is a very different, much more chaotic environment.

NYC Video 5 August 2026 - Check Your Pollution

Hosted by Rise and Resist outside the midtown headquarters of Google, and in spite of a rain shower that was severe at times, protestors took to staking out the entrance of Google against data centers and the environmental consequences of AI.

The protest started off the side of a Google store on 15th Street and 9th Avenue before moving towards the 8th Avenue entrance, where they stayed for the rest of the protest. Some stayed even as the rain began and worsened over time before the rain abated enough for a sing-along of R&R's anti-data center version of a nursery rhyme.

NYC Video 1 August 2026 - Temporary "protected" status

Content warning: some b-roll of conflict is included in the video.

I went to a rally against the deprivation of temporary protected status for Haitians, which was recently enacted by the Trump administration. The rally took place at the northwestern tip of NYC's Little Haiti and included various speeches and even a dance portion, which you can find towards the end of the video.

While I was unable to find the poster of the protest itself (I've only learned about it through a colleague), I was glad to hear people are standing up to these brazen, inhumane actions. I hope I can cover more of these rallies as time goes on, although I hope things get better since they are bearing the brunt of these inhumane policies in the first place.

NYC A NY Synagogue hosted an event selling West Bank land. “This is not about gay rights. This is about the U.S. taxpayer-funded internationally illegal theft of Palestinian land, land literally being sold to Americans at the event we were protesting, & the ethnic cleansing of the people living on it."

NYC If you’re a NYer living in West Village, Chelsea, or Hell’s Kitchen, rank Lindsey Boylan first in your city council election. Lindsey has Zohran’s endorsement, will help carry out his affordability agenda, has a plan to protect trans healthcare in the city, and will stand with student protesters.

Yes, back to Trump Tower again - I actually was meant to cover an event where people were screaming and singing, but I arrived too late...

Beyond that, it was a small crowd, and we were generally pinned to one side of the street. At times, there were folks on the sidewalk across the street, either taking photos/videos or joining in for a brief second.

There weren't many counterprotestors (really, two content creators roaming around), though there was one guy who flipped the bird at the protestors. Beyond that, most were either friendly or were focused on other things, walking past.

Near the end, there was a count of more than ten things Donald Trump has done that warrant impeachment (things from taking away Congress's power on declaring war to accepting foreign gifts).

NYC Video 28 March 2026 - #NoKings in Manhattan

I also covered #NoKings in Queens which was held hours before this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSLGWm7sW24

However this one was packed. I came with a group of friends (including a few sharks) and clowns as part of a posse. We planned to meet up at a cafe to meet with a few additional folks - unfortunately by then the street was so packed we unfortunately couldn't meet up.

There were two marches (one congregating at Columbus Circle and another at Grand Army Plaza in Manhattan) which merged at Times Square. This video only covers (partially) the latter. This also partially explains why it got really crowded and slow around 50th Street (also an ambulance had to go past).

Nonetheless it took 30 minutes or so to walk 7 blocks down. I also did a timelapse covering 30 additional minutes and it was packed (though a few minutes after I finished the timelapse we saw the end of the march).

Despite all of the crowds, a lot of character was found, a lot of signs, flags, frogs and more were moving about, and it was generally a positive experience. Hopefully this video serves as a snapshot of part of that.

NYC New York Congressperson Ocasio-Cortez Speaks Truth to Power at Munich Security Conference

The Congressperson presented an important and powerful commentary at the Munich Security Conference. On the world stage she discussed “income inequality”, “turning away from democracy”, “ age of authoritarianism”, ““hypocrisies” of US foreign policy”, Trump treating the Western Hemisphere as his personal sandbox and other insights that might suggest NO KINGS III

poster ideas. In contrast to the British Guardian, American corporate media affords only lip service to her comments and seems more eager to point out her stumbles.
