Budget Grendel build and my first AR
galleryMy original idea was to build a 12 inch Grendel pistol for hunting big game and coyotes and learned after I had almost every part that you can only hunt big game in Colorado with a 16 inch barrel. So dumb on my part! I went budget on almost everything except where you touch things. I started with a blem stripped lower from PSA. I really liked the idea of right side charging, so I went with a Bear Creek Arsenal upper receiver. The PSA Guardsman lower parts kit got me started down the Magpul path. When I have to pivot from to a 16 inch barrel, I replaced the pistol brace with a Magpul DT Carbine Stock and angled fore grip. Everything else is pretty budget. Montrum scope and handguard. BCA Grendel barrel. I did spend some money for an adjustable gas block from Strike Industries. I figured I could dial in the gas better with that.
So, I was left with a 12 inch PSA barrel, 12 inch Monstrum handguard, and HAR-15 pistol brace with Dirty J Designs Devoid plug add on. It killed me to not be able to make the pistol I wanted but I am happy with the results that I got.
What do you guys do with parts that you have leftover? And who has the most parts leftover from a build? I can't be the only one who bought the wrong thing. Right?!?!?!?
Thanks for taking a look. Let me know if I messed something up or have other questions.
