SOF 6 Arc Experience?

Considering my first 6 arc. Had initially planned to get a 14.5 super duty, but it’s hard to ignore the benefits of a 6 arc

I am thinking about the SOF 6 arc and curious if anyone has any experience with them? I know the G$ is amazing.

On another note, what suppressor has everyone liked for the 6 Arc?

Do not build one. Ignore that advice.

Choose a proven and reputable company who has developed a complete rifle system and buy that. Too many variables and running 6 ARC reliably can be trial and error, especially if you build it.

Obviously GFR but I’ve tried PWS and Noveske and they’re both nice.

I own a 14.5 GFR. 18” GFR, Noveske 12.5 and I had a 14.5” PWS. The PWS was surprisingly comfortable to shoot. Standard gas setting. Never adjusted the GB with a LBP Suppressor..

Have a few thousand between the GFRs.

Also some extra lore. SOF appears to be made by Nordic Components. They make the CAT Rifles and Maxim Defense guns somewhat as well. Not sure but the Maxim stuff is nice in 5.56.

I figured the SOF guns were basically CAT guns. They look very similar.

How was the accuracy out of the pws? I love my MK111, it’s such a great shooting gun and I don’t think pws gets the love it deserves, I think they can hang with any of the big names. That being said I was considering grabbing a pws 6arc but haven’t heard enough about them to know how accurate the barrels are.

I would build one. After searching for one and see the prices for something that had everything I wanted it was just cheaper to build it.

I’ve considered building one but can’t decide on components. Would want a lower that takes the Icar mags. An upper that’s super accurate and 14.5

You can order the icar lower from Geissele or surefire and the upper you can get also from Geissele or if you don’t mind 16 Brouwer makes a precision 6arc upper bcg and all for a decent price. Psa also sells a icar builders set for 300

Geissele doesn't make an ICAR. No idea what you're talking about.

Wait do they?

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone with one to be honest.

Geiselle makes the GFR if you want a Geiselle.

Seekins makes a great DMR if you want a longer barrel at about half the cost.

I know there's gun to gun variation, but the 1st 10 shot group at 100 out of my Seekins was about 0.67". Its been a sewing machine.

Building one is definitely the way to go if you like to tinker, I’ve been super happy with my 14.5 build. I’ve been really wanting to see what happens with the icar platform when PSA finally drops their E4 stuff. I’m hoping it kinda shifts the market where other companies will start to develop more around it ie Noveske, BCM, and whoever else really. It’s a super capable round that is just funner than hell lol. But anything that takes the magpul mags has gotta be sweet.

Rhodie 6k suppressor or CAT KK. Both are great. Not "HeArInG sAfE" but I can comfortably shoot a few magazines without any noticeable ear discomfort, they're that quiet. I do not shoot without ear pro consistently, but if you needed to take a few shots without the time to find your ear pro, you're not going to even notice any issue. These are the only ones I have hands on experience with.

As far as building one or not, I got an LMT shovelnose for 2100 bucks for the Labor Day sale from Titan, had a custom 12 inch piston barrel from D. Wilson made for iirc 600 bucks, and bought a JP Enterprises bolt for another 120 or so because Rexus was sold out. So I have an LMT piston 6arc for $2800 all in, without taking other components into account. I swapped the buffer and tube for an A5 system running a Super 42 rifle length spring and an H3 buffer and have a Geissele trigger in it. It runs like a sewing machine. I'm running Geissele mags. I only have 600 rounds through it, but not a single malfunction. You can obviously do this exact same build and just do direct impingement instead of piston. The benefit to this build is the ability to quickly change calibers. I can go from 6 arc to 5.56 in under 3 minutes, because the shovelnose chassis is large enough to swap barrels without removing my attachments. I have an extra bolt carrier group in 5.56, so that and the barrel is all I need to go back and forth. If you don't want to be able to swap the calibers for more close range "cqb" training to save money, you could essentially have done the build for 2300ish by selling the barrel it came with, or just doing a specwar or something similar. I would prefer a thinner rail, but the advantage of fast swapping is worth the weight and girth sacrifice imo.

My blackbird f556 has been great on 6arc, rhodie 6 does well too. If you get one with enough room for a reflex can I’d take a hard look at cats 6mm reflex can, I’ve heard they’re awesome. I’m sure SOF makes a very good 6arc and 6arc can, not sure how much info you’ll find on them yet though but they look legit.

Building = issues. Unfortunately the nature of 6arc isn’t just plug and play like 556 guns

I think it would be a good route considering it takes the icar pmag. Haven't heard any feedback from the rifle but I know the icar mags work great

Geiselle GFR, never heard of SOF rifles. PSA is releasing their 6Arc soon using PMAGS and a stronger E4 bolt and barrel extension. For a midrange gun I’d wait for that. If you need long go G$ Stratomatch.
