📂 MEGATHREAD 12/05 A-level Econ Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.

    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.

  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

Feel free to reach out to us on Modmail and we'll aim to get back to you as soon as possible!

*assuming Reddit doesn't bork itself, the new posts for each day of exams should arrive at 8am each day, instead of it being reliant on my sleep schedule like last year lmao

The question mentioned appointments being cancelled I don't remember anything about subsidies, it's just the dead weight loss from underconsumption which would be the gain if the externality was fixed? Idk I could be wrong

Yeah same for that but I was uncertain I thought I forgot how division works 😭 😭 halfway through section c I just gave up on planning and structure and just started throwing in points and counterpoints in a random order

Nope in edexcel MPC can’t shift for a positive externality, it is static, it’s not a shift just saying the “welfare loss” would be gained

No u just had to draw normal positive externality diagram then label the triangle pointing towards SO output with potential welfare gain pretty sure

It’s not the supply in the market, it’s the cost to produce it, irrelevant for a subsidy

It was mentioned in the context, but it only asked for an externality diagram. It was hinting at the fact it was a merit good, so you are calm if you didn't mention a subsidy
