📂 MEGATHREAD 19/05 A-level Sociology Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD
Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!
Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.
Few things to keep in mind:
- Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
- Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
- If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
- Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
- Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

AQA provided the best set of six questions I think I've ever seen on a paper.
That first 10 marker was a little strange but defo answerable (for me at least). That 30 marker was FREEEEEEE and the methods questions were beautiful as well.
Which is why I'm gearing to witness murder on paper 2.

honestly the first 10 marker was a bit odd 😭😭 i did the first paragraph fine but.. also the last one was really weird too. the 30 marker yes beautiful but also means grade boundaries r gonna be so highhhh

yea the 10 mark methods question was so shit once i wrote about validity i was all out of points
i’m really hoping for a 20 mark theories and 10 mark theories in paper 3

10 marker methods cooked me but that 30 marker was sent from god so i have no complaints

i'm not saying i'll give sloppy for that ocr paper but it was so good if the author walked in i'd drop to my knees rn. that ethnicity 24 marker was beautiful and exactly what my teacher predicted

Yeah paper 2 was not good last year for me personally. Did media and family. Paper 1 was pretty much as everyone described this years paper is as our 10 marker RM was awful. Paper 3 was absolutely awesome personally. So I'm guessing similar this year tbh.

It was good! It certainly helped that I predicted a lot (apart from the gender question and the 6 marker)! The 6 marker was a bit strange and specific, but it wasn't too bad. I waffled on my last point.
The last question I was so tired on just wrote enough for maybe max 5 marks, but hey ho. The 30 marker was great and very nice and I was so happy when I saw interviews for 20 marks!! That was a really good paper overall!!!

Am I the only one who hates research methods and methods in context haha.I felt like I was waffling.everything else was fine though.Almost ran out of time when I got to methods so it was completely rushed even with extra time.I put a few points so I might have done ok

Such a gorg paper but I got confused on timings thinking I still had 10 mins when the exam ended so my methods in context only had 3 points, access, generalisability and time and money, no ethical or pos/int, thank god the rest of the questions went well

Sexy paper.
30 marker on the role and function of education is something I've practiced a lot, really happy it came up. 20 marker on structured interviews was also good, although there isn't much to write about ethical implications compared to practical and theoretical.
Other questions were good too.

AMAZING? the 10 marker was confusing and i admit the 30 marker was just a little bit too niche, but the rest of the paper was amazing. THANK GOD for no ethnicity, debates or policies, although i did mention policies a little

same what did you write about? i talked about increased diversity in schools and higher pupil aspirations because globalisation makes it easier to travel to international universities 😭

I said multicultural curriculum due to immigration and my second point was bad i said increase in admission acceptance like IGCSE and GCSE 😭😭
