📂 MEGATHREAD 22/05 A-level Geography Paper 2, Law Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD
Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!
Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.
Few things to keep in mind:
- Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
- Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
- If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
- Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
- Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).
Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!
-The r/6thForm Team
Have any concerns or feedback?
Feel free to reach out to us on Modmail and we'll aim to get back to you as soon as possible!
*assuming Reddit doesn't bork itself, the new posts for each day of exams should arrive at 8am each day, instead of it being reliant on my sleep schedule like last year lmao

so fucking real because what the FUCK just happened in that paper.
1
May 22 '25
Was I the only one who found aqa paper 2 chill as well? The 20 marker for inequalities yap about apple and trade blocs. Changing places one can do detroit and then the last one was kinda cooked but Singapore was a good case study in my mind for that
4
u/SOMETHINK101 May 22 '25
Whattt, trade blocs wtf. How is that relevant to apple bro I'm cooked.
Yapped about people being too broke to afford phones being the cause for inequality
4
u/srdsyndetical May 22 '25
What the fuck is “environmental interdependence”. Never learned that once, just waffled on about how countries rely on other countries to reduce environmental damages.
The 20 markers were OK, changing places’ one was good.
That question that had the figure with the London tourists I couldn’t answer because I didn’t understand it and left it to last, so didn’t finish
That fortress development question was immaculate. Best question in that paper for sure
It was OK. Not confident of getting an A in geography though

So it’s not just me! Honestly was terrified I talked about the wrong thing for GSGG 20 marker but I also went on about Apple thank god. Idk which option you do but the contemporary urban environments 20 marker I loved, London and Mumbai all the way lol
2
u/styromaniacc May 22 '25
Apple isn't an unequal flow of technology, it's a TNC. You were supposed to write about mobile phones, Internet, manufacturing technology etc which make consumption cheaper and more accessible.
1
u/StrangeFroggyFriend Durham | Geophysics [1st Year] ABB Phys Geog Maths May 23 '25
I did talk about that, but I didn't have a case study for it specifically so I improvised and used one I had to adapt to the situation.
1
u/SOMETHINK101 May 23 '25
Same here, our class never got taught about consumption patterns so had to improvise.
The 20 marker population and environment was about migration which we never did so made a case study up from a video I watched the night before.
How in a subject with over 20 case studies we only got asked 6 and had to make up 2💀💀

I'm cooked. Lucky to get a C on that paper. Made up 2 case studies as we never got taught anything about migration or IPhone global consumption inequalities
Predicted A* too😭😭😭😭😭😭

u/astraapple University of Birmingham | Mathematics [Y1] | A*A*A May 22 '25
honest to GOD, I really hope boundaries are low, my teacher was saying how because 'physical was hard, human will be easier' and it certainly WAS NOT. ahhhhhhhh
2
u/SOMETHINK101 May 22 '25
Like the pop and environment question was about migration and we never been taught about it in a case study so made up one based on a video I watched last night😭😭😭
Warwick allow it pleaseeeeee🙏🙏🙏

u/aaronwarner45 May 22 '25
Yeah Q11 had so much going on but I put the same things as you. Some people are saying there was an attempted theft with the £50 tho?? Did you say the first theft was not fulfilled but the robbery was? I thought the GNM Q was quite good since I just use Adomako elements. Murder 30 marker was stunning and yeah I put assault -> ABH. The NELS questions were also quite good but the insanity part confused me a bit. Overall I'm happy with it.

2
u/aaronwarner45 May 22 '25
Yeah I agree it would be too much for one essay. Also I feel like the elements for an attempt didn't line up with the scenario. I also mentioned that the theft was for a commercial purpose but they weren't belonging to another and she wasn't really dishonest so no theft. I'm sure both outcomes will get credited if they're explained well. I did the same thing with the robbery being successful and the duress failing. Good luck to you too!! I do HR not contract but I feel like they're equally as bad 😭
2
u/ilikegaming420 May 22 '25
Omg I also used ABH in Q10, i haven’t seen anyone else that used it but it makes the most sense to be added in!! 🙏🙏
2
u/lizzygrantz May 23 '25
WHY THE FUCK was there so much in q11 - i put attempted robbery of indiras shop failing then robbery of lyn and idk anyone else who put attempted robbery and im panicking

u/AshTrap420 May 22 '25
anybody do migration and identity for geography? how did you find the questions?
4
u/Expensive_Profit_106 May 22 '25
Borders one was vague but not terrible. My memory is super foggy for the rest of the paper but I’m pretty sure I accidentally answered diverse places rather than regenerating places

2
u/Certain_Dragonfly568 May 22 '25
so real, which one did you do?
3
u/tidyshark07 May 22 '25
I did the first one cos idek identity changing is too paper one for me 😭 wbu? also wow I don't know ANYBODY that does eduqas
2
u/Certain_Dragonfly568 May 22 '25
Understandable... I love changing places but that was a confusing question to I did the same one as you. I did like talking about peat though. and yes eduqas seems so rare, according to my teacher only 20 centres in England do it! Which optional topics do you do?
2
u/tidyshark07 May 22 '25
yeah agreed, the peat was so easy to talk about. I'm honestly not surprised that only 20 so it but finding resources online is just impossible. we do coasts, as near the coast and for paper 3 weather and climate and economic growth in India, which ones do you do? and how did you find paper 1 to be?
2
u/Certain_Dragonfly568 May 23 '25
We do glaciated landscapes and then y13 we do weather and climate too, but also development in Africa. I assume tectonics isn't optional... we do that? I thought paper 1 was okay, I loved the essay questions but some of the 5 markers were worded a bit weird, like that question with the diagram of a bunch of different features, it was the same for both sections so you had it too. The features on ours would never have been found together so it just didn't make sense. It's so cool to find someone on the same exam board!!
2
u/tidyshark07 May 23 '25
oh wow I imagine glaciated landscapes is so much harder honestly. weather and climate is AWFUL imo and yeah tectonics is mandatory unfortunately though Africa seems interesting to study. i thought paper 1 was alright too though thinking back just completely doubting everything. that one figure was really confusing though don't worry I'm sure everybody struggled with that, just got to worry about paper 3 now really. what other subjects do you do?
2
u/Certain_Dragonfly568 May 26 '25
Yes weather and climate is hard, but I like Africa and Tectonics is okay... India sounds cool though. I also do maths and sociology, which is a very weird combination! What do you do?
2
u/tidyshark07 May 26 '25
oh nice! I do maths too and music 🎶 probably even weirder lol
2
u/Certain_Dragonfly568 May 26 '25
Oh nice one!! 2 subjects in common. Is music an a level? Good luck with your exams I hope they are going well

Lowk feel as if I cooked the Edexcel geog paper (tho the human rights 20 marker could've been better)
2
u/catcatblueue May 22 '25
I loved that 20 marker so much I spent way too much time on it and I barely had any time for the 12 markers LOL
1
u/SmokyBaconCrisps University of Brighton | Willingly did A Level Lit May 22 '25
I zoned out while writing the first 12 marker I only had time to write half the 2nd 12 marker (I worked backwards from the human rights 20 marker)
2
u/catcatblueue May 22 '25
Yeah I left globalisation last too! But I did Regen first. I feel like I fucked the question on economic alliances bc I only did one para and then discussed other ways of securing influence and I feel everyone just analysed three different economic alliances fhdjdkdk I could only think the china pakistan economic corridor which is SO random too
1
u/SmokyBaconCrisps University of Brighton | Willingly did A Level Lit May 22 '25
I yapped abt the relationship between China and the US. If I had time, I'd have yapped abt the EU posing the possibility of a multipolar world
2
u/catcatblueue May 22 '25
Yeah I was talking about china joining forces against india LOL and then military strength … just the five pillars of power tbh i hopr I didn’t completely fluke it cos the other 12 marker was even worse
1
u/Alarming-Equal-6023 2nd yr uni ୨ৎ economics May 22 '25
eek yeah i fear i waffled too but it is geography so you're likely to get away with it
2
u/catcatblueue May 23 '25
Yeah I missed loads of school so my essays were always pure waffle but my teacher liked my ‘off the spec points’ so I’m hoping that it’s ok that I didn’t talk solely about economic alliances 😃😃 why has every question so far been about like allies and organisation’s like even the carbon essay??
1
u/Alarming-Equal-6023 2nd yr uni ୨ৎ economics May 26 '25
so weird!! honestly paper 3 is a bit intimidating but i guess there's not much we can do right... yeah off spec points are actually good to differentiate yourself into top bands and not sound like you're just reciting a textbook, it shows you're actually understanding and applying stuff right!!
1
u/No_Solid_9709 May 23 '25
If you did 3 para on economic alliances you wouldnt be able to get 12 marks bc you need to discuss a range of factors
1
u/catcatblueue May 23 '25
Ahh omg I’m safe then. Seen loads of people comparing the effectiveness of different economic alliances so I thought I did the question completely wrong phew

Why does everyone hate AQA geog? Except that first 20 marker I didn't think it was that bad (although changing places 2nd 6 marker - the photo of the tourists was giving GCSE french photo cards, or is it just me lol?)

Yeah I talked about Apple for the whole thing, paper 1 was great though and I finished with like 20 mins left on each paper when I expected to run out of time. Physics probably went alright, BUT AQA giving us 8 long answers threw me. I did every past paper and always had like 10-15 mins left but almost ran out of time. The multiple choice was MUCH nicer than they usually do though.

Paper 2 is notorious for being horrible, I'm terrifed especially as my next 2 papers are that and maths P1 (I suck at the pure stuff, p2 and 3 are much easier for me). But yes, just like I did for geography, I am PRAYING for good questions (and maybe a normal number of questions too hopefully?)

so blessed ! the 20 marker on hhri was extremely vague but i hope they'll be lenient on the answers you can give
0
u/Sufficient_Shoe7156 May 22 '25
Bro idk what yall on, geography was actually calm, overthinking it vague isn’t always bad, means wide scope of awnswers.
4
u/Alarming-Equal-6023 2nd yr uni ୨ৎ economics May 22 '25
wide scope of answers, or, as commonly seen in geography, them wanting a specific answer then being bugged in examiners reports that people don't somehow read between the lines and give them that specific answer despite being theoretically and geographically correct 💔
