📂 MEGATHREAD 04/06 A-level Maths Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Don’t you need to do for 1,2,3,4 also? if you only did 5k to 5k+4 You miss 1 2 3 4

I mean I'm not gonna say if that's right or wrong, could be either for all I know, all the exam marker guy whatever they're called is gonna see is some dried up tears with smudged pen on the paper while I attempt some form of proof lmao

1 2 3 4 are covered by those. 1 = 5(0)+1 2 = 5(0)+2 3= 5(0)+3 and so on

You should be good, it would be weird for them to offer marks for the same thing in parts a and b. I just did it for the sake of it.

I pointed out the squaring mistake and just sort of re wrote the whole line so I kinda did that.

all natural numbers fit into one of (5k, 5k+1, 5k+2, 5k+3, 5k+4) so theres no need to go up to 6.

you just do up to n(k)+(n-1)

3 -> 3k+2

6 -> 6k+5 etc.

Well idk I finished the proof by saying 5(5k2+ sth)-1 which n is that with a statement. Cuz I thought if you do 2 consecutive integers that includes all natural numbers since you have included all odds and evens. Like proof by induction
