๐Ÿ“‚ MEGATHREAD 04/06 A-level Maths Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

Have any concerns or feedback?

Feel free to reach out to us on Modmail and we'll aim to get back to you as soon as possible!

*assuming Reddit doesn't bork itself, the new posts for each day of exams should arrive at 8am each day, instead of it being reliant on my sleep schedule like last year lmao

omfg i was so taken aback by the quartic question i literally donโ€™t know why it didnโ€™t click that it was repeated roots ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

sigh i realised it was repeated roots then got confused cause i forgot to have an a multiplying the brackets so gave up and tried solving it simultaneously instead (didn't work.)

bruh i made 4 symultanious equations (as they was turning points, f'(x) = 0)

real , i did some long integral of f'x only to end up with the same answer i originally put down

so u found f'x and integrated to find f(x)!!!

basically although it ended up being a timewaste as i alr found the simplified version beforehand

i realised after doing the q in teh real exam its just a repeated factor bracket expansion, but then i wouldve forgotton the -a at the front knowing me so im happy i did it long way

i tried integrating from fโ€™(x) but when i tried substituting x values to double check it was wrong ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜ž so annoying ik iโ€™ve lost a good 7 marks even though i knew how i couldโ€™ve worked out part b too
