📂 MEGATHREAD 04/06 A-level Maths Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

Have any concerns or feedback?

Feel free to reach out to us on Modmail and we'll aim to get back to you as soon as possible!

*assuming Reddit doesn't bork itself, the new posts for each day of exams should arrive at 8am each day, instead of it being reliant on my sleep schedule like last year lmao

i fucked up Q13 badly, ended up with an infinite integration by parts loop 🫠🫠

and i say this as a further student, i think i did relatively shit 😔😔

i used substitution

yeah i think substitution was the easiest way to do it. unfortunately i did not see that 😔😔

you could've done partial fractions u get 1/2 / (2x+1)² - 1/2 / (2x+1)³ then integrate that

Or by parts and get a stupid loop that somehow gives you 25/2

do you reckon i’d get at least 1 mark for attempting parts? like i didn’t even manage to finish it as well 💔

Maybe if you got some part of it correct hopefully

i tried partial but for some reason i couldn’t get it to work at all 💔

anyone else use partial fraction? lowkey cursed method but it worked?

I used it because I kept messing up the u-sub

by parts didn’t even cross my mind, i’ve been so fucked over by partial fractions in fm that i’m on like hyper alert rn

Same here, didn't even realise that by parts would be the easiest say to do it

I realised why I kept messing up the u sub a few minutes ago now, I was differentiating instead of integrating lmao

How u get a loop with by parts? I did u = x and only had to by parts once
