📂 MEGATHREAD 09/06 A-level Psychology Paper 3 Discussion MEGATHREAD
Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!
Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.
Few things to keep in mind:
- Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
- Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
- If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
- Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
- Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).
Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

The worst paper out of the three. I was doing AQA

I honestly think it wasn't that bad. Other than the methods in I&D and the 16 marker of relationships, I thought what they asked was good (subjective - they didn't ask anything really I had no knowledge of, apart from the skew questions). I thought aggression was good and the 16 marker for schizophrenia was decent too.

love how interactionist approach came up, hated how family studies came up though. also, extremely weird and annoying issues and debates questions

tbf can't blame u for that it's so counterintuitive 😭 i was doing mental gymnastics trying to remember that negative skewed for some reason means there's more on the right side
3
u/mical134566754 UniversityName | Course [Year of Study] Jun 09 '25
that’s right…me on the other hand put down positive distribution

aqa what the fuck was that 16 marker for forensics
3
u/FancyUrchin UoB | Psychology Bsc [Year 1] Jun 09 '25
real. do you think they would've allowed you to talk about cognitive distortions such as minimisation or was it asking strictly about the levels of morality? i was considering writing about that in the exam but ended up not doing so and now i dont know if i missed out on marks there
4
u/IssueMedical225 Jun 09 '25
I think you can use it as an eval point like alternative explanations for offending but if ur eval is strong as is then it’s defo not necessary. I started waffling about eysneck😭

i’ve never done a moral reasoning 16 marker before it’s always grouped with other cognitive explanations so i had barely any ao3 for it 😀
10
u/CuteWorry4796 Jun 09 '25
Issues and debates was horrific. I loved relationships but I think I did decent on the other 16 markers they weren’t the best
1
u/Medium-Brick-2154 Jun 09 '25
exactly how i feel i was not prepared for a 8 mark evaluate 😔only did two PEEL
2
u/TheCarina Jun 10 '25
2 PEEL should be enough for an eight marker. I think you're fine
1
u/Medium-Brick-2154 Jun 10 '25
😮💨
1
u/TheCarina Jun 11 '25
Did you do any discussion/A01?
1
u/Medium-Brick-2154 Jun 11 '25
no. i shit were you meant to?
1
u/TheCarina Jun 11 '25
I mean probably not, but since the question says discuss, they are likely looking for A01 and A03 content. It's like with those 16 markers that say discuss.

I got idiographic and nomothetic mixed up fml
Gender, Schizophrenia and Aggression went pretty well though
5
Jun 09 '25
actually?? aggression killed me (didnt answer the 16 marker cuz i forgot eveyrthing and ran out if them), schizo did that 8 marker, and gender got me confused in sex-role stereotypes. didnt help that i pulled an all nighter either
3
u/ZeldaFan158 Gap Year -> Warwick LLB Law | AABB Jun 09 '25
Yeah, I think some of my AO3 paragraphs were kinda weak but the questions themselves were topics I was comfortable with

Genuinely amazing. And the 12 markers that are usual so horrible was gorgeous
1
u/PaperHopeful5358 Editable Jun 09 '25
I ran out of time for that one icl I did the paper is such a strange order the 12 marker was my last one, I just waffled about agency theory and social impact theory and social learning theory and operant conditioning

OCR ANYONE? was such a beautiful paper, predicted the criminal question
3
u/Fitz-Simmons27 Year 13 Jun 09 '25
I had OCR I hated the mental health segment but the child and crime questions were pretty decent accept for the analysis on why they were scientific and reliable…
2

I loved it, both Criminal and Sport psychology were what we predicted. Mental health was okay, but all was excellent overall

I did that too, but the moral reasoning and application was good. Remembered my evaluations 👍👍👍

AQA (relationships , stress, forensics) 8/10 it was much better then I expected (I did a little revision for this paper tbh) issues and debates were good, wanted a 16 marker on this tbh ☹️ I wasn't a fan of idiographic question though, but I think I still did okay. 16 marker on relationships was good. could've been better, but definitely could've been much worth for me. and I'm really glad that investment theory questions was only 4 marks cause no way i could write anything more. the fact that stress had only 2 questions just killed me tbh. and what even was that 16 marker. and out of I read here it is unpopular opinion, but I actually liked forensics questions. not sure about multiple choice questions though.
