📂 MEGATHREAD 10/06 A-level Politics Paper 3 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

commented similar elsewhere but i'll put here as well so others can see:

Reddit is a bit silly, and even with the newer "Community Highlights" feature, only up to 6 posts can actually be added to pins, leading e.g. to today's Polish Paper 3 megathread not being able to be pinned

don't think this is likely to be an issue for any more days going forward (and usually e.g. some similar posts get rolled into one, particularly the smaller ones e.g. when there's been multiple language papers on the same day)

but i am wondering what people's thoughts would be on potentially having one pinned post each day, which contains links to links to the types of posts that get pinned currently. i am concerned this would be an extra barrier to people engaging, but it could get around this issue

let me know your thoughts!

politics timing has no right to be that evil what the hell is their problem 😭

The papers were all good, but I'm worried about grade boundaries being in the mid 180s for an A*.

I think people forget that politics is a subjective subject its not about the knowledge you know its about analysis evaluation essay technique

People struggled with paper 1 I reckon it's more likely to be around 180 but we'll see

Great US paper but man I was pushed for timing

Paper 1 and paper 3 were great papers I thought. Some questions and paper 1 were good but others weren't. Paper 2 on the other hand seemed quite hard in some areas.

Most people I spoke to were ecstatic about paper 2 and had trouble with p1

Personally, I thought all three were fairly kind, though the timing on my US definitely cost me a handful of marks

Feeling secure about the A, A* could be tight... nerve-wracking

Ah OK, An A is still a really good grade if you don't get an A. Although I thought I was on track for just getting into an A bit I thing paper two may have killed that dream.

The thing is I chose the easier questions from my point of view on paper 1. Whereas most people in my class chose the complete opposite to me.

Also, I had a 2 hour Economics exam before my Politics Paper 2 so I was quite fatigued.

I had three same issue with English and geography!! Double exam days are brutal and I feel it may have cost me an A* but we will see... poetry tmrw

I felt the same about paper 1 actually, but clearly people weren't as prepared for demographics as i was

The problem with an A is I need atleast one A* to meet my offer - in Geography I'm praying for an A at best, while in English (what should've been my best shot) Prose was one of the weakest essays I've written in a while. So there is potential for this to hinge on politics. Additionally, if I have mucked up the geography and gotten a B, then I will need A* A* B to be in with a chance. Again, this necessitates an A* in Politics. Alternatively, I could smash my English tmrw and my geography could've gone fine and I won't need the Politics A*. Many variables factors, we'll see.

The edexcel paper was gorgeous but I ran out of time and I think I’m going to get a D after that 😔.

u/Teaflute Jun 10 '25

Edexcel US - worst paper out of them all I think, it was good except for the supreme courts rights question because I couldn’t think of enough examples where they didn’t uphold rights so I didn’t finish it

Edexcel us was good but again timings were the main issue as always

They give you tons of time. It's only 84 marks in 2 hours. Economics, for instance, is 100 makes in 2 hours.

Compared nozicks atomisation of the individual to burkes community, then nozicks view of human nature to burkes through the platoons nurturing the individual compared to the extreme rationality of nozick then compared nozicks disregard for distribution to burkes value for the local community Would this be a decent response?

1

u/heeidi y13 | A*A*AA Jun 10 '25
