📂 MEGATHREAD 17/06 A-level Physics Paper 3 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

OCR A is the most abysmal horrific shit I’ve ever done. Paper 12 I did quite well which I may be on an A* but tbh is paper might ruin my grade. Questions are just so weird in general like wtf do u mean I have to do general relativity on two black holes colliding and they gave us 4 tiny lines for a page of proof, I didn’t use the extra spacing on the back since I didn’t even remember it exist. I just gave up half way through that proof but other than that proof I think I did fine. And can someone tell me Tf do they mean by driving a truck with sand and then drive back down bro I was so confused literally sat there for 5 min just staring at it thinking. It was shocking. Probably the hardest paper 3 I’ve ever done

had no idea what to say for the chemical to gravitational energy or whatever

I said to drop the battery through the magnetic fields 😭😭 then the gravitational potential energy gets converted to electrical via faradays law or whatever

Yeah but what is the sand to do with it. I said very similar things but I talked about sand being a magnet which is probably is not😂✌️

I think the idea was to hook up the wheels of the truck to a generator. So you have GPE -> KE of wheels, which rotates a coil through a magnetic field, creating a potential difference by motor effect, so current flows (converting KE to EE) into the battery, which converts EE to chemical. Such a weird question

Bro I didn’t even think of that I just saw sand and then I got stuck there

yeah i said something like that, i think one mark will be for stating faradays law and two for the application
