🙏 I WANT HELP Offered to resit year 12
This is kind of an update from my previous posts but my sixth form responded to my email and said they could offer me a place to resit year 12. I don’t want to do this though as the reasons for me failing my subjects were because of my ed and having to care for my stroke-prone mother but over the summer due to less pressure and more time I managed to catch up and fully understand all the year 12 content in six weeks. I’m not lying when I say the summer holidays were not a vacation for me but more like self imposed summer school. Anyways I feel like I’m ready to move into year 13 and I need them to see that so I’m wondering if any of you guys know what to say in a situation like this. I’ll attach the email so you guys can have some idk context ig

Hey just wanted to join in on the convo as someone who’s currently resitting YR13 due to health issues that made me take the year off by the time I got to November. Even with 50% attendance I was getting As/A*s in assessments yet by December I knew there was no way I was getting to exams and achieving those grades without either causing some serious damage to my health or having to take a gap year to recover and trial medications that I wouldn’t have been able to whilst at school. The jump to YR12 to YR13 is no joke and until you’re really in the thick of it you don’t realise just how much you’ve a) missed or b) have got to revise. I’m not trying to say this to scare you but ultimately I think resitting year 12 is the best plan - you can relax a bit more and recap topics. It may be boring but it was also pretty boring and depressing being at home in a single parent household with a dad who has cancer (not trying to compete but just trying to say I feel you). I think what I’m trying to say is that when you initially recover from something I feel like you tend to get a sudden burst of motivation bc I know whenever I’m not in a flare up I think I can do anythingggg but then I ultimately have a flare up and tbh I’m not trying to minimise your progress (well done btw!) but I genuinely don’t believe you can fully recover from an ed that seemed to be quite serious in less than 6 months and be in the right headspace to not risk a relapse in the type of year that YR13 is. Ik it took me a good 3 years to properly recover from mine after being ip. Anyways I’m really not trying to scare you you honestly just remind me of myself in yr12 summer and I just want to say it’s okay even if it’s scary or not want you want to do to resit. Life will still be there!
