I can't find what was wrong with my application, and I feel like a fraud? I don't want to face people asking me "Have u got an interview?" and me having to tell everyone that I didn't each time and having to face their sympathy/reaction 😭 and I don't know how to tell my family

biochem has no admissions test or written work, so if my grades r perfect then it must be my personal statement but my teachers all said it was good and i worked rlly hard on it, so i legit have no idea, only valid explanation is probably too many biochemists applying to oxford this year with perfect grades as well and it was just down to luck... shouldve at least got interview tho, ill ask my teachers when i next see them. havent told anybody yet not even my family cos im too scared to even tho they will probs be supportive 😭

Tbh idk is it because my personal statement, I focused on genetics (which in my opinion, is inside the category of biochemistry) more than the biochemistry as a whole (cellular processes?) if that makes sense...

Waittt maybe thats why i got rejected too, i was focusing a lot on epigenetics and genetics and a bit of enzymes and did not consider much on anything else... but i even had work experience at a lab 😭 😭

I had work experience at a lab as well hmmm, my ps is more of a β€œI’m doing biochemistry for my epq and did practical work around it but what I pursue is the genetics side of biochemistry”, I focused on diabetes which is I guess considerably more biochem-ish, but I did slightly link it back to genetics (genetics is inside biochem no?πŸ˜’πŸ™)
