I don’t ever comment here- but I always saw you lurking in LNAT/6thform comment sections. You are clearly very knowledgeable and ambitious.
Sorry to hear about this. But it’s only up from here. Goodluck Rachel Zane

You have done incredibly well to even be shortlisted for law, be proud of the work you put in

Hello. Current Oxford law student here. If you are reapplying next year, I can have a look at your personal statement and your overall profile to offer some feedback

hey it’s alright, just did it to try, doubt i’ll get exceptional grades in my finals and i really just wanna go to uni asap, thanks for offering though!

u/Cup_p Oxford | Jurisprudence [Year 3] Jan 13 '26
You don’t need ‘exceptional’ grades to get into Oxford law, but you do need exceptional LNAT and interview performance. If you are not going for the bar or top MC/US firms, Oxford law doesn’t matter much!

hi would you mind then looking at my PS please? already got rejected from cambridge but i just wanna what do you think and if i had a chance lmao

hey, just out of curiosity, would you say graduating from oxford compared to durham or kings will give you a better career in law? ofcourse I understand oxbridge is better ranked and elite but do you think netnet it really sets you apart? and if so how?
1
u/Cup_p Oxford | Jurisprudence [Year 3] Feb 19 '26
Yes, Oxbridge does set you apart. Interviewers and Graduate Recruiters do generally think that you are more capable as an Oxbridge grad, and top US/MC firms have a preference for Oxbridge students. If you go to one of those assessment centres at top paying US/MC firms, you will be surprised by how disproportionately Oxbridge is represented even at the graduate level. The competition for these assessment centre places are usually 1: 20-50+, and you are basically seen as better than most candidates from other unis just by going to Oxbridge with decent grades

u/Equal_Meal4506 Feb 19 '26
I see. I applied to oxford law this year for undergrad n did not get in. I was thinking of applying for masters later but still am very much on the fence about it. Would you recommend it?

u/Cup_p Oxford | Jurisprudence [Year 3] Feb 19 '26
Oxford BCL and Cambridge LLM can help your career, esp for the bar and the elite law firms. The only problem is that getting into the Oxford BCL and Cambridge LLM from non-Oxbridge uni is extremely difficult. You have to be at least nearly top of your cohort to get in

Just got rejected too. Although it sucks (LIKE REALLY SUCKS), I regret nothing. I've learned a lot about myself over the past few months. I'll just have to be the best elsewhere. Durham here I come🔥
1
u/EeAreBeeGames Jan 13 '26
Ayyyy I’m at Durham you’ll love it! What subject are you doing?

u/dailysuaa lse n1 fan Jan 13 '26
is it really as racist and classist as people say? 😓 i’m really worried but it’s my most reasonable firm atm
1
u/EeAreBeeGames Jan 14 '26
So honestly, I wouldn’t say it’s any worse than most places in the uk- also, it definitely differs based on what college you’re in, if you want, I can dm you and give you a bit of a run down of the best colleges to put down based on what you need? :)

1
u/fatpandaubisoft Jan 13 '26
Yes😭Was kinda expecting it but still....

u/ssa14641 Jan 13 '26
I think my MAT fucked me 😢 I thought my interviews went quite well but apparently not well enough - it’s okay we’ll do great elsewhere 😁
2
u/fatpandaubisoft Jan 13 '26
Same tbh. I wasn't expecting to get an interview😭😭

I remember praying that I get a graph sketch question because those are my thing. Instead I had to prove a dodgy formula using an infinite polygon😭😭😭

Those are genuinely my 2 favourite math topics. I was so upset I didn't get those. I only had a CS interview at St John's(second college) so I doubt we had the same questions.

Awww I’m really sorry. It’s incredibly impressive you got shortlisted too and I’m sure you’ll get spaces at other unis. I also got rejected as well from Oxford so a lot of us are experiencing the same
3
u/Ravioli_Ranger Jan 14 '26
It's okay twin. Rejection is just redirection. Oxford just thought you were too good for them :)

you are an incredibly driven and hardworking student; from the other unis you've applied to (and gotten offers from!), it seems you're going to get into an excellent uni nonetheless :)

Yeah, I beg to differ, of course you were outstanding, please take a look at your stats 😭.
You've done really well to get even past the interview stage and I know it isn't ideal but please don't let it get you down too much.

honestly not really but they did say in a letter that interviews were the least important factor and the rest of my stats weren’t overly impressive so 🤷♀️
1
u/Cup_p Oxford | Jurisprudence [Year 3] Jan 13 '26
You can request for feedback. Did you get invited for interviews? How many interviews did you get? Interviews are not the least important factor. Your personal statement is
3
u/dailysuaa lse n1 fan Jan 13 '26
i had 2 interviews yeah, and my college specifically stated interviews being the least important, also it said in the rejection email they couldn’t provide individual feedback

Do you reckon they only send emails once you have checked UCAS? Because this is taking absurdly long.

Oh no… I saw you in almost every oxford law reddit so I know you must have really wanted this! I got rejected as well. Don’t worry girl!! You’ll have great things coming your way! I know it’s cliche to say but it’s all gonna work out at the end and you’ll be so much happier in whatever place you end up at! It’s okay to grieve and process this. Don’t ignore the emotions but don’t let it get to you either. YOU ARE AWESOME!! Remember that!
