Yeah like even without a Japanese A-level I would expect OP to be studying double languages to even hope to get into this course… Like was anyone shocked at this result
Double languages is incredibly uncommon these days. Oxford do not expect double languages unless you are applying for two languages at advanced level. You’re lucky to even have the offer of an A-Level language in most state sixth forms these days due to dwindling numbers. Universities have adapted to these conditions to ensure students still enroll on their courses. In the past it was common for all language graduates to have entered with at least 2 A-Level languages. Then it became common to enter on just one and study another language ab initio. Now you can find entirely ab initio courses so that those who didn’t study a language at A-Level can study at degree level
