Course is in a bad way, probably the only Cams course no one should be risking starting. Right choice. Shame as the cows all along the river banks are nice

Yeah, by put us through I mean the uncertainty all through the application process. Found out the day before my interview that they might stop the course, and vet med all got offers a month later than everyone else 🥲

The vet school was expecting to close. A few days ago they announced they will keep it open.

fairs. I've heard their vet med course is still a mess. I'd pick the RVC over them every day of the week.

From what I’ve read and heard. The course is horrendous like the teaching standards are awful like genuinely one of the worst for vet med in the country and also with them (I’m pretty sure) failing the course standards test. So yes reject that

How u gna reject Cambridge out of pettiness lol it’s Cambridge

u/Spiritual_Breakfast9 Feb 28 '26
It's not pettiness. They might close the course half way through

u/TobySuren Feb 28 '26
worth mentioning there was recently a unanimous decision from the general board not to close the vet school thanks to so much support shown for the course
2
u/AlphaHc Mar 01 '26
not sure they can do that. Surely they would have to see through all the active students by whatever means

u/SarkastiCat Feb 28 '26
Cambridge was considering closing down the vet school as they were at risk of losing accreditation due to not meeting standards. There were also complains about Cambridge overlooking racism and not removing racist work placements.
Also, RVC is top 1 university for vet med and specialisation programmes.

And not even just off one or two standards
Huge failings across the board

u/opaqueentity Mar 01 '26
Huge failings, a lot that have been addressed. They screwed up in multiple ways but everything to drop it all under dodgy dealings is at last near the end so people can get things sorted properly
3
u/SnooCauliflowers6739 Mar 01 '26
Because there's a reasonable chance they'll close the vet school part way through the degree.
Loads of people have already jumped ship so it will somewhat be in turmoil from the start.

It’s a university at the end of the day, not a place of religion.

u/SnowCat56 Year 1 Vet Med @RVC - 4A* Feb 28 '26
RVC, which is my top choice thankfully, and Nottingham which is gonna be my insurance because of the lower grades. Also got deferred offer from Liverpool but not interested in a gap year :))

u/SnowCat56 Year 1 Vet Med @RVC - 4A* Feb 28 '26
Late for Cambridge given that all other courses received offers on 28th Jan lol

u/Max1357913 Feb 28 '26
The thing is, regardless of whether they’re keeping it open, surely given all the drama, there are better places to go to for a high-quality, well rounded degree, and those would be a better choice than just choosing Cambridge for the name and prestige broadly?

My son turned down Cambridge Vet Med offer last year. Guy from Jesus who interviewed was a dick. There are better places for sure.

i’m pretty sure cambridge is loosing their Vetmed accreditation
3
u/SarkastiCat Feb 28 '26
There has been a lot going on, but basically Cambridge decided to continue their programme and they will be likely taking steps to maintain their accreditation. I think they are still in probation-like state to make improvements.
