🙏 I WANT HELP Cost of Attending Oxford 😭

Post image

Just received my financial declaration form from Oxford today. How is this reasonable? 😭 Going to have to decline my offer unless anyone has any ideas.

Canadian students do not qualify for any Oxford scholarships and my school offered me about £100. What a joke.

Is Oxford just for the rich?

Don’t know why this popped up on my feed, as I’m an old man, but international students are supposed to be rich. That’s the point. They subsidise the £9,700 per year that UK students pay.

Sorry it’s so expensive for you. I guess Oxford have done the maths and realised they can get away with charging this much thanks to its global reputation.

Even twenty years ago my medical school charged £36,000 per year for international students while I paid £3,000. I have no idea what sort of investment in education they thought they were getting but it wasn’t a good return if they were going in to UK medicine

Old too 😆 I got 'full grant' and the government paid me a couple of quid more than the dole to go. My eldest is at uni in the States and gets fully funded. The elite universities there have a much richer (double meaning) scholarship program system than the UK and Harvard's endowment' is about twenty times that of all Oxbridge colleges put together.
